When I had cirrhosis I had back pain but this was after I developed ascities as fluid was building up since my liver was not processing toxins efficiently. Lowering intake of toxins and salt helped a little.

My pain would go when drained. You have to avoid certain types of painkillers as they are stressful on your liver.

I was put on an opiate but only took it when in agony as I was afraid of the habit forming potential. I have since had a transplant and am fine.

I was on dihydracodiene then eventually, morphine. I suffered delirium and was out of it for a few weeks. Luckily I slowly got better but it took 3 months after surgery. When I was in pain I had to take up to the max. Morphine was on a timer and I pressed the self med button constantly. I always had the intention not to get hooked and this helped when the pain subsided.Good luck.
