I would really appreciate if someone can help me understand what is going on, my doctor seams to think there is nothing to worry about but I am stressed.
My fibroscan results were totally normal a year ago at 5 kpa lsm and 184 cap score.
However I got a fibroscan done 4 months ago and my lsm was 3.8 but cap had gone up to 247. Obviously this made me worried so I had a repeat day before yesterday and my lsm was still 3.8 but cap is up to 284.
All my other lfts and bloods are normal but this is freaking me out. Any suggestion of what is going on would be helpful.
I had severe hep a 4 years ago in which my inr went up to 2.5 but I made a full recovery. I did not drink for over a year and even after that drank moderately. However in the last 6 months I have been having up to 40 to 50 units a week. Could this be the reason? Doctor says it's nothing to worry about as long as I don't eat too unhealthy and don't binge drink.
Any advice would be welcome, my ultrasound too is normal. Does anyone know the markers for fatty liver in lfts or blood tests.
Many thanks

40 to 50 units per week is a massive amount to be drinking and will be seriously damaging your liver. Doctors seem to be greatly underestimating and relaying the correct info to patients about just how much damage even small amounts of alcohol does to the liver and other major organs. Neither do they explain just how addictive it is.
In order to live a healthy life and to reverse any liver damage which may be present, you need to stop drinking completely. Either by cutting down gradually with the full intention of becoming totally alcohol free or stopping immediately and for good.
There are many people on this forum who can give you their experiences of how alcohol has damaged their health, how they stopped drinking, how they are coping with the illnesses they are left with and the disappointments and long waits for new livers. So please take their advice when they send it.
My only qualification is watching alcohol kill my husband and he was drinking less than 40 units most weeks.
There was a recent discussion in this forum about fibroscans and how accurate they are or aren't perhaps you can find it and get some information regarding that from others who have had a fibroscan.
I have no knowledge of hepatitis and its effects, other than my hubby was tested and given the hep B, I think.
The one major thing my husband's liver doctor has told him often and at almost every visit since the hubby suffered liver and kidney failure in fall of 2015 is - once the liver is injured each and every alcoholic drink continues to further injure the liver. I don't know what is meant by "units", but if a unit means a normal drink 40 to 50 sounds like a lot, that would be 5 to 7 drinks every day of the week - not something I would guess any medical person would recommend to anyone, let alone someone with liver issues.
