Wonder if anyone can help. My husband had a transplant end Nov 2017 and has returned to work on a phased return. Although his mood has improved and he is less angry and cross he is not feeling too good.
He was in agony and we went to our GP who sent him straight to A & E and they diagnosed shingles. He has been feeling very poorly with this and our consultant couldn't even examine him as he was in too much pain.
He didn't have any spots just pain. That seemed to have settled down but yet again he is a great deal of pain around his scar and his back.
We are aware that he has chronic kidney disease which hasn't improved after his transplant so they may have to add some further medication to try and improve their function. His ankles have swollen terribly too. He is also diabetic and since the op has had to move onto Insulin.
Has anyone else had these problems and what can you suggest?
I think he's returned to work too early but not sure what I can do to help.

I agree with you he has definitely returned to early I am 18 months Post and still haven't returned as I have had numerous infections and rejection ...... He needs to concentrate on being alive and healthy rather than work some people are lucky and can return within months but for the majority it's a long recovery..... The pain he experiencing is all normal it's a huge operation and they have to pull our ribs apart to get to the liver I have twinges every now and again...
If you could convince him to maybe have a little extra time off or even do a phased return one or two days but short hours as his energy levels won't ever be the same as pre illness
