I am new to this site and I am very worried about my husband. Two weeks ago he started with njght sweats, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. He had a blood test which showed elevated liver enzymes and some futher blood test few days later to find out the cause.
We are still waiting for the results which he has been told he will recive next week, but he still has all the symptoms and is also very tired.
Does anyone know what might be causing this, my husband is a moderate drinker and he smokes.
The doctor thinks he might have liver disease.

No one here is allowed to offer any sort of advice on potential diagnosis and it might be a case of sitting tight and waiting for the results from the various tests your husband has had. There are short term 'bug-like' conditions which can elevate liver function tests.
In the mean time it would be wise to cut the alcohol out completely and if possible the smoking too.
Fingers crossed results come through quickly and you can find out whats going on.
my advice is, try to not use the internet or Facebook groups for a while, as that will just make you more anxious. If you want reliable information and advice this is the right forum to come to. The British Liver Trust website is also very useful for anything you need to know about how to keep healthy and generally keeping the liver well.
To further echo Katie, alcohol is definitely not a good idea right now, and whatever the result of the blood tests, alcohol intake is something that could be discussed with your GP.
Assuming that you will be sitting in with your husband at his appointment, have a small notebook with any questions you might have and a pen to write down what the GP tells you.
Its so easy when stressed to see the doctor and come out thinking 'what did he say' ?
I can only support what others have said. The only other advice is to cut down on salt as well as not good for the liver too. Good luck and hoping it is not too serious. 😁
Thanks for all the replys, my husband has hardly had any alcohol since he became unwell and his symptoms have also got better not sure for how long though, We are now just waiting for the results.
