Hey guys, so after years of highly elevated AST and ALT (+700-800’s) I have a specialist acting more seriously for me. Doctors have always fobbed any condition off as I had gastro issues which they attributed but now I’m possibly facing auto-immune hep or scirrosis. The results have flared ever since a cholesestectomy when I was 14. Maybe my liver was damaged during surgery? Who knows. I am now 41 and have someone on my ‘team’ that is finally concerned and he wants to do a fibre scan then maybe a biopsy. Any advice on these? I’m in Australia and just want to find others with such conditions. Have also been experiencing major vertigo and anxiety (maybe migraines) has anyone had that occur with liver disease? Any words of support will be appreciated. I’ve lived through diseased gallbladder and 17 stones at 14, and endometriosis & PCOS so have had a life of disease so am pretty over bad news. Anyway thanks for reading. Cheers!

Wow your story sounds so familiar to mine I have suffered with ibs since I was a baby and I was always overweight, no periods for most my life doctors didn't take it seriously until I was in my 30's I had high GGT and I was just told to stop drinking a couple of years later I was finally diagnosed with pcos and a year later I was hit with cirrhosis at first they blamed it on alcohol and then the doctors who diagnosed my pcos stepped in and asked for a biopsy and it is because of pcos ... Hopefully once you have the biopsy it will give them and yourself some definite answers I know it's such a scary time waiting for tests and results but you will feel less tense once you know what your dealing with there is a link on my posts about pcos and liver disease ... I do hope it isn't the same diagnosis but it is better to be forewarned and he the information relevant x

Thanks so much for your reply! We are so simple in spirit and yet so complicated in body. You are so right in saying it’s the waiting and not knowing that’s hard. I have the fibrosis test on the 8th of Feb so still some time to plod on but it’s nice to connect in the meantime and not feel so alone. Thanks and best wishes xoxo

So had my fibroscan and I'm on 6.6 with a fully working liver. no explanation for the AST, ALT elevated results so will keep monitoring. Can't explain the 25 kg weight gain either whether that's hormones or liver or maybe both! I'm a pescatarian with very little dairy and eat better than most and walk our two big dogs twice daily. It just doesn't add up?? urgh maybe I should get a gut test done? Anyway I'm glad for once it was good news and not auto-immune hep! Better off than many so gonna stay positive.
