hello, new here

I have recently notice hair loss (but not sure if more than usual) - how likely would it be that hair loss was first symptom of liver disease? thanks

I wouldn't think that hair loss would be a first symptom of any liver illness. If you check out the NHS page on Hair Loss you will find a whole raft of possible causes before liver disease is mentioned. nhs.uk/Conditions/Hair-loss... and on the British Liver Trust page on cirrhosis ( britishlivertrust.org.uk/li... ) hair loss is only mentioned in the later stage symptoms of liver disease i.e. when the liver is struggling to cope & multiple symptoms would likely be present.

If you are in any doubt ask your doctor to run a set of basic bloods / liver function tests though your problem likely lies elsewhere if you are otherwise symptom free.

I Dont know how early it starts coming out but I was diagnosed with Cirrhosis about 5 years ago and had really thick, long hair and wasn't aware of it coming out. I didn't know it was a symptom so I guess I wasn't paying that much attention, plus I was caring for my dying husband. About 3 months ago it started coming out by the hands full and I was terrified to wash it. I read a lot and lots of people were talking about B-12, B-1 & Biotin. So I started taking them daily. 5000 mg Biotin, my daily vitiman, the B vitimans and I've noticed it's not coming out half as bad and their is new growth all over. I'll swear by this and losing my hair was terrifying me

The first symptom that I had was hair loss. My hair thinned, the individual stands themselves, and fell out w/a touch. I wasnt even aware that my liver was the cause but my hair used to be thick, so thick it was barely manageable. I have about 1/4th of my hair thickness left. It falls out regularly, large amounts. Does anyone know how I can help it? Im considering fake options like clip ins but that would literally take half of the hair I clip it to. Wigs. Is there any natural way that I can help it? That works! I had to cut 2 feet off of my hair so as to help it not tangle so bad. What am I lacking that I need more of to help it naturally grow back? Or is it too late? Wigs and tracks.

Many do get hair loss , and not just in the latter stages. This can be often partially due to vitamin and mineral deficiencies. B 12 and B7. B7 has been used for years on both humans and animals , and is good for nails too ,it can be one of the first things they try in the case of Alopecia.

Yes I lost loads of hair historically and recently after Hepatitis, years ago my acupuncturist said that after various things hair loss can be last on the list of symptoms.. it's stopped now and growing back again. High stress has caused it too as well as traumas.. interesting about the Vit B.. don't worry xx
