Hi I have pbc, nash, type2 diabetes, stage 4 cirrhosis, esophageal varices, high blood pressure, portal hypertension. I was diagnosed with nash recently and I was wondering does it change life expectancy to have 2 autoimmune diseases in the liver?

That's like how long is a peice of string . Dr.s can only use guesstimates. There are too many variables in most cases. You can ask for your MELD score , more often used in the Americas. Or your Child Pugh score , and UKELD . These will give you a snapshot in time. I was a ChilP Pugh B and decompensated, and now the lowest Child Pugh sore of an A , so they have totall changed their guess estimation of how long I will live . They satpy old age without a transplant. I know of two people who a still going after 30 years with cirrhosis. Live and eat healthily , make the most of every day of your life. Keep exercising , you can do a lot to help yourself. PS who knows I could get knocked down by a bus tomorrow !!
Unless I am wrong NASH isn't an auto-immune condition it is just a more aggressive form of non-alcohol related fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Information on NASH & NAFLD are available on the Liver Trust page at:- britishlivertrust.org.uk/li... Including information on lifestyle changes that might help the condition.
Hopefully your PBC is being managed as best they can, NASH and PBC together will have contributed to your liver becoming cirrhotic. I know there is little they can do for your PBC other than meds for its side effects and monitoring of your liver but you can possibly make changes to diet, diabetes control that might help the fatty liver aspect, however, with a known cirrhosis diagnosis it should be that which is now being monitored.
Do you know if you'd be considered for a liver transplant at all? That might be a question you want to ask your consultant about.
As regards multiple auto-immune disorders there are a plethora of folks on the Auto Immune Hepatitis page who have a multitude of AI disorders, when you have one it's highly likely to have many as your over active immune system isn't going to only attack your liver.
All the best, Katie
That is a good question, hopefully someone will respond, hang in there!
