Hi All,

Here I am again with yet another conundrum. Terry had his eyes tested about 1 month prior to transplant & needed glasses for distance as well as readers. Spent a small fortune on varifocals . Now post transplant he says he can see without them !

We've booked another test next week to see if his prescription has indeed changed.

Anyone else come across this or is he yet again "Special" ?

Mal.xx

P.S. He is still feeling cold constantly but Thyroid tests came back clear.

My eyes have changed a lot since the transplant. I like designer glasses but I have had different prescriptions nearly every year now since ( 7 years ) My eyes even differ. I went again this week and the left one needs 3.75 and the right one only 2.25 (strength) I myself, donot know why this is. I even had both eyes operated as they had cataracs. One before the OP and the other one Post transplant. I still get cold very quickly. This coldness was very bad before the transplant. I was told that liver diseases cause "coldness". Why this still is I also unfortunately don't know. I have dieted and lost a lot of weight since the OP though. But this was intentional. Those who know me or read previous posts, also know that I suffer from eating disorders. So Terry seems to be a different "kettle of fish". It is however still important to go for regular check ups. For teeth as well as eyes and of course all the obvious ! Flu injections are MOST IMPORTANT. But I suppose EVERYONE knows that ! All the best to you both. xxx

Many thanks. That helps a lot. Terry has only felt cold post transplant though.xx

I think prednisolone can affect eyesight. So if he was on it and has come off, that could account for the change. I had worsening eyesight and only started wearing glasses just before transplant, and I know that two years on I probably need a new prescription.

He was on prednisolone post transplant for about 7 weeks. Will mention this at eye test. thanks.xx

My optician wouldn't do an eye test until at least 12 weeks after stopping prednisolone. My vision has had so many changes its hard to keep up. I'm just getting my 4th pair in one year. My diabetes diagnosis means I can have as many tests and prescriptions as required, so that helps.

I'm almost 4 years post transplant, sadly my eyesight hasn't improved. I do constantly feel cold, my husband says they replaced my blood with water!! I asked my consultant why, but sadly couldn't answer. I've become a custom to it now and see it as a benefit, whilst everyone is sweating in a heatwave I'm "just right". During the winter I layer up, only real issue is I want the heating on whilst every one else is too hot! Ive invested in a blanket 😉.

Sorry I can't be more help but I wish you good health.
