Not coping well.

After being off work for 4 weeks For liver damage that is yet to be diagnosed I'm starting to lose my mind. I'm 21 years old and don't drink at all really.

Not only will I have lost a months wage and can't afford bills or anything really, I'm on my own constantly and when my partner comes home it's still feels like I'm alone as he's off talking to friends. I've told him how I feel and he just gets angry that I'm angry with him or apparently go as far as breaking up with me and packing his bags.

I'm starting to feel down all the time and now I can't sleep at all. I'm wide eyed every night which just means more time on my own.

I have my mom and boyfriend lecturing me all the time. I don't think I can cope any longer. As my boyfriend was running off threatening our relationship I was seriously considering just downing as much alcohol as possible, I don't want to start thinking like that! I can't cope anymore. Especially with this new not sleeping thing. Help!

Hi. It sounds as if you need to go to your GP and tell him exactly how you are feeling. You also need to know what is going on and discuss any test results with the experts - were the tests done by your GP or a hospital?. The results should go back to whoever requested them. Get your Mum / partner - or both - to go to any appointments with you so you do not feel so alone. As I am sure you know, drinking will definately not help your situation. You are not alone we are all there with you. Good luck. Let us know via these pages how you get on.

Hi Laura,

I know exactly how you feel. I was told I had liver problems at 20, but I was never diagnosed. Sometimes it happens like that. I agree with gamesmaker though—you should talk to your GP. Definitely stay away from alcohol, even though I know you must feel desperate and alone and angry. You're definitely not alone, as we are all here to help you :) Just come and chat to us.

As for not being able to sleep at night, I had that too. It can be a symptom of liver damage on its own. Definitely speak to your doctor.

As for your boyfriend, well maybe he doesn't know how to act or he doesn't see how serious it is. I'm sorry you are going through this, because you don't deserve it.

Let us know if you need anything, and tell us how it goes with your doctor.

Please do as the others aay and see your gp for some answers and much needed support.we can all understand your fears and frustrations. Maybe a friend or other family member can help explain how difficult things are to your boyfriend . It Iis hard for those around us to appreciate just how terrible you can be feeling, but there are people here that will always listen. You are definitely not alone, and we all await what your gp has to say! X

Hi Lauramw

If you have liver damage there is a possibility that you have something called Hepatic Encephalopathy this affects your brain and causes sleep cycle disturbance.

Please ask to be tested for APHA 1 ANTITRYPSIN DEFICIANCEY this is a very undiagnosed cause of Liver disease. Look it up on the net.

It may help.

Hi Laura, everyone has given you good advice with which I agree but I think you are in need of an understanding new friend to whom you can pour your heart out. You do not say what area you live in, say a rough idea or maybe we can keep in touch. You do not exactly say why your mum and boyfriend are lecturing you? Do not touch alcohol. Cyber hugs to you. I am abroad on holiday at the moment but thought you needed extra support. As everyone says, we are all 'there for you. Do not feel alone.' x
