Hi em25.

I had a similar procedure done in 2010. Had a big bleed and woke up in ITU 24hrs later and told they had to do a TIPPS. Am surprised she has been told not to exercise, as I was told it was essential for my long term health. I had to lose a lot of weight as I was seriously obese at that time.

As I was very 'regular' in my visits to the loo, I was only on lactulose twice a day. After a while I didn't need to take it as I was eating healthily enough for my body to get rid of the waste naturally.

Thankfully I never had another bleed, and didn't need to have another endoscopy either.

Hope this helps and that you wife gets stronger.

M.

Hi em I have had 10 bleeds and 9 bandings since 2011 after giving up drink and looking after myself I feel better now. I have cirrhosis and fatty liver with only 20% of it working. Keep her on the lactulose as it also keeps the toxins low & you can think a lot better x
