Hi rajusubhankar I also have fatty liver and cirrohsiss all exercise is beneficial lots of walking if possible, also try not to eat processed foods, take a ways. And so on, lots of fruit, vegetables, green tea, water brown rice, brown pasta, breads and wholegrain cereals' also plain low fat or soya yogurts, boring I know but these are all types of food your liver can deal with, and to gently lose weight. Good luck and good health. Angse

Hi

Fatty liver is the infiltration of FAT within the liver and is caused by being overweight and/or excessive alcohol consumption (in my case!).

As far as I am aware it is a recoverable situation, moderation of alcohol and a good healthy diet are important as is regular exercise.

As said above, cut down/out convenience foods,

Hi rajusubhankar. The two answers above tell you what you need to know. The diet is important so that you lose weight - and similarly exercise helps. I was first diagnosed about 20 years ago with fatty liver and it has now slowlyprogressed to cirrhosis, but not all people with fatty liver progress on to cirrhosis (only a small minority i think). My hepatoplogist suggested weight loss if possible (I am a little overweight), and exercise and no alcohol at all- but I do not drink any alcohol anyway, He also said that vitimin E suplements can help some people. I am diabetic on insulin (linked to the fatty liver diagnosis) and so have to watch the diet from that point of view. Good luck

Hi I have a fatty liver but must add that I have never drunk alcohol so was told mine may have been caused by virus medication and diet. I ate Weight Watchers meals and other processed foods for many years never had a healthy diet when I was a child but then very thin. I know that when I lost weight I felt better but Unfortunately have so many other things going on at the moment like Underactive Thyroid, Inflammatory arthritis, Vit D deficient, high Cholesterol pre diabetic mild fibrosis of the liver, inflamed kidney. I end up with edema in my body so that causes me pain.

I would say get everything checked with you bloods to make sure nothing else is going on. It has taken me 3 years for several doctors to confirm all my problems so get a printout of your bloods so you can keep a check. HEALTHY EATING IS A MUST AND EXERCISE. STAY AWAY FROM THE ALCOHOL ITS NOT WORTH IT IF YOU WANT TO LIVE LONGER:)

Hope this helps best wishes

I have slight fatty liver and have never been overweight. I've been told mine is due to many years on a high carbohydrate diet. Too much fat in your liver is caused by the build-up of triglycerides which come from fats and sugars in the diet. So the advice about cutting out fats and sugars is good.

hi it's defintely reversible with exercise and good diet and low/no alcohol. I used 5:2 diet (fastdiet) and had very good results.
