alchol price: there thinking of pricing... - British Liver Trust
alchol price
I agree to some extent but all the evidence seems to suggest that where minimum pricing has been brought in, there is an impact.
I think it is disgraceful that supermarkets etc use cheap alcohol as loss leaders to sell groceries and minimum pricing may have an impact on this practice.
I agree , if they banned those cheap ciders
they r so full of chemicals and strong in alcohol
I also think the parents have a lot to answer for
they've had alcohol pricing for years in Scandinavia where there'e always been a serious alcohol issue-it's worked to a certain extent but real alcoholics will persist. At the end of the day it's a cultural issue. In the Mediterranean area-you don't need to get drunk to enjoy yourself! In any case alcohol is part pf the human condition-now we've invented thousands of enjoyable ways to imbibe-difficultt remove this from society-it's like the internet.
I have come across many parents who do not feel it is their responsibility to watch what their kids are doing... Many get so drunk that they are not even aware of who they have slept with or even woken up with... We had fostered a teenage girl - for a number of years - thank goodness she is back with her mum now - because her mum did not stop her drinking she would use the 'I will kill myself if you stop me....' routine - when she came to us - the problem got really out of hand...
Youngsters bodies are still growing and are not equipped to deal with large amounts of alcohol and drugs - the effects come out adversely - behaviour/academic progress/diet etc...
I did a huge research for my degree on this topic
The problem is access to alcohol combined with parental responsibility - we need to give parents the power to be one - not the police/social services/schools etc who seem to be expected to 'parent' kids these days.
Pear shaped.
Personally, I don't think the pricing will affect the consumption. People still smoke in spite of the cost of a packet. I think the price may affect people with less disposable cash but for the majority I don't think it will change things. Perhaps non alcoholic drinks should be made cheaper, I know my boxes of Becks Blue are a similar price to my old poison (Stella)!
