What's your favourite part of the day to run? ππ Tell us about it in the comments!
Specifically I like to go out at around 11:30 am. It doesnβt happen as often as I would like it too but that is my favourite time. I wish events would start at that time π.
That would be good! Actually the triathlon I did a couple of years ago started at 11:30, but I'm doing it again this year and apparently we're going off at 8:30 this time. Huh!
I like early morning 6 am
I canβt eat for at least 6 hours before I run, so I either starve myself all day before running after work or run in the morning and feel great for the rest of the day.
I like to run in the late afternoon. Where I live there seems less people around so I donβt feel as tho Iβm being stared at. When the weather is good the sun has moved round to shimmering over the ocean which is gorgeous to see. The other reason is once Iβm home and showered, I can get the dinner, Iβm starving by then!πππΌββοΈπ
Very productive runs in early morning before kids wake up. Leaves me energised for the day π
I much prefer to run first thing. Three cups of tea and a quick look at the news headlines then I'm off! Breakfast and coffee on my return, jump in the shower (not literally!) and ready for the day π
It's the early morning for me, between 04.30 and 06.00, love the sound of the birds when I'm warming up.
Wow, Iβm in morning envy! Iβm always so tired and donβt have the energy early mornings so I run after work at night.
But... I have got to try earlier running as raves are always early!

I like mornings too, particularly in the summer - but I LOVE going out in the late afternoon, I feel much stronger at that time of day! Dunno why I don't do it more often actually π
Always early morning for me. Best part of the day, nice and cool. Used to suffer with low blood sugar episodes whenI was younger so surprised myself that I could do it. Tried a post-breakfast run once, never again.
Ideally around 11 as there's less white vans trying to squeeze past me and people with dogs. I like Dogs and White Van drivers should anyone be offended
Really donβt have a preference - not a fan of early mornings in general, like to have some breakfast and to have been moving about for a while.
Except when (if) it gets hot, then I want to get out before the heat!
When I run is generally down to whatβs convenient on the day.
Iβve just come back from my second ever 10k....not fast or pretty, but I went. I like mornings, and am a freelance homeworker, so Iβm lucky enough to be able to go straight after Iβve taken the kids to school. Iβm not sure Iβd fit it in otherwise.
Running late on a summer evening is also pretty cool. Something about twilight on a long day is lovely π
I always start at 0700 when the local park is less busy.
Morning when Iβm running on my own as not too many people/dogs etc around 8.30-9am. But I also enjoy Thursday evenings when I go to my local running club as weβre doing a Couch to 10K course at the moment x
Definitely like to be out by 8am so the rest of the day is all mine! Iβve tried running later in the day and find motivating myself much harder- thereβs always something or someone needing attention!
I prefer going late afternoon/evening, but I'll only do so if I haven't eaten beforehand. We do run at lunchtimes from work, but I often find it too warm.
Get up, get out, get on, do it.Early 0600-0800 latest.
To be honest and as a pensioner I have the freedom to run anytime and I just love to run/trot

The morning - which often ends up being before/around 7am for me.
I actually run faster in the afternoon. But itβs too much faff.
Iβll run in the evening if Iβm going out with a group, or if it fits around other things that I have to do. And I enjoy it once Iβm running, itβs the getting ready to go that I donβt like. That, and the fact that I've generally been awake since 5/5:30am.
A beautiful, sunny day, early in the morning before it gets too hot (& before I start faffing around too much, lol)... bliss
The best time for me is always evening. I think I run best when I've eaten all day!! I feel fuelled!!
I like an evening run when the house has settled down. It gives me time to think about the day (or not, depending on how it's gone) and clear my head. If I had a longer drive from work I'd probably do this then, so this is my substitute!
As the runs got longer and the days warmer, the sooner is the better. So, as a rule, anything 15-20K plus is early in the day. 5K-10K later, sunset. Midday. Not, if l can avoid it. A bit of heat and here comes fatigue. And there is disruption around if you run outside, as l always do.
I always feel much better after a run, so running early sets me up for the day. I enjoy runs at other times too....I just get better value out of the morning ones.
I enjoy a 6am run. Love the freshness Of the day and the quiet paths.
Pretty much as soon as I've got up and had a cup of tea for a short run, tea, porridge plus an hour or two for a long run. Sets me up for the day. Later I feel too 'stodgy' to enjoy a run. Have never tried evening, but am sure I would hate that π
I started by going early evening, then last summer when it was so hot, I decided to go about 7.00am after just a cup of tea. I found it much more pleasant and I seemed to have stronger runs, so continued with mornings. Generally go now about 9.30/10.00am when the morning rush has finished.
I prefer in the morning around 8 am. In a normal week I manage this once, with the other two being in the afternoon.
I'm a straight up and out chap! Alarm at 5 Tuesdays and Thursdays, running by 10 past for 30>40 minutes then off to work (after showering of course!). Weekends are Parkrun on Saturday at 9 and whatever time I get up on a Sunday for a long(ish) one. Early mornings in the countryside with ultra fresh cool air and a beautiful dawn, can't beat it!! I'm used to not eating beforehand toobut always gasping for a cuppa when I get back!
Oh any old time... except that I have to have breakfast first so that rules out 1-2 hours after I wake up. This time of year I am starting to get interested in evening runs again. But really any old time!
I love my morning runs, especially in the summer when it gets hot. I like to get out before it heats up too much. I find the later day runs so much harder - easier to procrastinate and not go or supper not agreeing with me on my run. But not all my runs can be in the morning, so I run when I can and enjoy the morning runs when I get them!
Early morning, after walking the dogs, to ensure at work on time. Weekend a bit later but not much. I often feel too tired to contemplate a run at night, but will give it a go now we have light nights.
Evening for me, I love running at night. There's something about running at night, it's like an out of body experience. I've actually read some articles about it, and they say it has something to do with restricted vision and not being able judge distance/surroundings, only what's directly in front of you. I find it very calming/tranquil a real sense of isolation.
Plus I'm not a morning person.

Both early mornings and late evenings for me, I also run during my lunchbreak once or twice a week to keep things ticking over, but that's not so enjoyable as you're restricted by time and the routes you can choose.
Early mornings are great once you get over the stumbling block of actually getting out of bed, once you're out there it's a beautiful and peaceful time to run. It sets you up nicely for the day too.
Late evenings again after the rush hours over and most people have gone in for their tea is also a nice quiet and relaxing time, I also find I have a little more in the tank during the evening as I've been fuelling throughout the day.
I love to get out before 6am. But there are practical (and unmentionable) matters that old guys like me have to take into account.
Early afternoons. I donβt get to do it very often, but itβs a bit quieter in the parks. Thatβs where I prefer to run when I can. The traffic is a bit quieter too. β€οΈ
I can't run in the morning - my bowels don't always co-operate!
I like to run after work, so i have all day to look forward to it and plan my route. Then I get home and get the dinner on!
The evening for me. I don't sleep well so getting up early for a run before having to get the kids and myself sorted for school is a no-go. I'm also super injury prone so I need about 20 minutes before a run to warm up (5-10 minutes on the spin bike and then dynamic stretches) and then at least 20 minutes post run for foam rolling and static stretching.
Does pre 6am count as the wee small hours? π
Definitely morning... I loved those few crisp, clear mornings in early spring where I was running just as the sun came up so the start of the run was in the early light and at the end of the run the sun was up. Sadly far too early for me to do that now.
I like to be out before 06.00, winter and summer.
I prefer the quiet time, it allows my mind to wander, plus less cars, people.....
On a day off, I can be in, showered and have a guilt free coffee and readπ€
I run first thing in the morning (6-7am, usually), and don't eat anything, but have a cup of tea and some water an hour before. However, when I ran 10K recently I thought I might need some fuel, so ate half a banana an hour before, and I think that was the secret of my success! π€£πββοΈ
Living in California, it's definitely mornings for me, around 7:30 or 8am, as it's usually cool even if it's going to be a scorcher later on. Huge mug of English Breakfast, quick check of emails, run, shower, breakfast and I'm ready to start the day!
Took part in a 5k race a few days ago that started at noon and I wasn't the only one struggling
9 or 9.30am. Enough time to digest breakfast but before it gets too hot - if that's what's forecast!
For my long slow runs itβs got to be early on a weekend morning before breakfast. During the week I try to go out when I get home from work early in the evening.
Last summer doing c25k it was 6am due to the heat! Currently it's about 9am having had breakfast ( muesli followed by fruit) at 7.30. That means I miss most of the rush hour traffic and I have that luxury because I am retired π
Evenings when home from work. In the door, get changed, straight out again. Sitting down is fatal, never get going again.
Parkrun of course is morning, I'm not a fan of that time but drag myself there.
Tried really early before work once and it was a disaster. On pizotifen that makes me sluggish in the morning and had a loomergency. Never again. I envy all you who use a morning run to kick start your day. I just wanted to go back to bed and cry!
If I didn't work full time I would probably choose late morning to mid afternoon. I am getting rather hungry by 7pm!!
Not sure how early it needs to be to count as wee small hours but I love an early morning run. 5.30 to 6.00am is perfect. Just me and the wildlife. Makes me happy just thinking about it.

I often work in the evenings so have one free morning with time for proper warm-ups and downs, long shower, hearty breakfast and time to poke about on this site! Then short one if I'm due somewhere and then choose at the weekend.Have tried later in the day but just feel blobby and tired!

After work...my favourite time of the week to run is Thursday evening which is the end of my working week. Can de-stress, clear my head and feel free!
First thing in the morning for me, out of bed and out of the door after a quick glass of water. My legs just feel better then and it gives me a spring in my step for the rest of the day π

I generally run about 8am. If I could get myself out of bed earlier I would run earlier, on the rare occasion I achieve an early start I love the peace and quiet and hearing the birds singing, particularly at this time of year.
100% in the morning. Iβm a real morning person, and I know Iβd find reasons not to run the later it got. Iβd also find it difficult to work out what/when to eat.
Coming back from a lovely morning run and having a soak in the bath sets me up for the day. β€οΈ
Definitely an early morning runner ,(6.30) less distraction ie cyclists , dog walkers and shoppers heading in to town tend to block up pavements - fresh legs, a clear head and we,re always good to go !! Yes , morning runs Set us up for the day !!
I prefer to do it before work, but I do have to be back home to leave the house for 7am. Getting up early is something I'm already trying to do to fix my poor sleeping habits, and I find that even though my legs are tired during the day, it's not an unpleasant feeling. I believe one's metabolism will cope better as well, but that could just be in my head.
I did my first 10k after work last week, and to be fair probably wouldn't want to do runs longer than 45 mins or so in the morning because I don't want to have to wake up before 5am for love, money, or anything else I can think of.

I find Iβve run out of steam later in the day or itβs too hot. I wish Park Run was earlier - itβs always too hot for me by 9.00.
I like to fall out of bed, straight into my gear, run, then come back and shower and feel set up for the day ahead

Well, my shorter weekday runs are usually after work at about 5.30/6pm but at the weekend I love to get out late morning (sorry early morning runners but I like my lie in! ) at about 10.30/11am.π

First thing in the morning for me. Alarm at 5.15 then up and out. Then back for quick shower and leave to drive for work by 7.00. Boy do I feel good sitting in the traffic queues at the many lights after that great start to my day. Interestingly I have never ever run any other time of day and really canβt imagine it!

Im up at 5.30am to run I like the early mornings. Its cooler and the quieter the better. And the fact that I'm up for the sole purpose to run gets my mind focused on the job.

I try to get out very early. When itβs quiet, only the birds,cows,and sheep and of course jean Michelle jarr,Elton John and Enya for company!πββοΈ
I always intend to run earlier than I actually do, but the time I run usually coincides with typical race start times so at least I I can consider it good race training. I do love those runs before everyone else is up on the rare occasions I manage it.

Morning because there are less people about on the canals and cycle paths!
I prefer to run between morning and lunch time so I don't harry to worry about not doing it. Plus running in the day means the I get a bit of vitamin D from daylight. I've just completed my coach to 5k and running during the day has been one of the things to help with motivation.
With the exception of Saturdays where it's either Parkrun or rugby, I'm very much an evening/after work runner. I've never been a morning person and I try to excuse myself by saying I need time for my thyroxine to kick in but the truth of the matter is I just like my bed too much.
For me, after work is a good way to unwind and put the office behind me.
