i m 47 yrs and have recently detected ... - Breast Cancer India
i m 47 yrs and have recently detected breast cancer. have undergone first chemo and will be going for second chemo in next week.
The side effects might vary with further chemo but on an average, since you have tolerated the first chemo well, other chemo cycles should not be much of a problem, don't worry. Go through other question threads on this forum and you will find a lot of helpful info.
Drink a lot of water (fluids) during chemo (at least 3 litres daily). Also, for initial 5 to 7 days, I am sure your oncologist must be giving you medications to reduce the side effects. So, coupled with routine precautions, you will soon finish your chemo and will be fine.
thanks doctor. also wanted to know that whether the dose of chemo is continued till last chemo
The dose will be the same, unless some major side effects occur, in which case the dose may be reduced.
thanks doctor.
since 2-3 days i have felt that my hair are becoming some what different and had hair fall to some extent. but since today i must have had hair fall upto 20 to 30% and rest of the hair have stucked to each other and i cannot manage to open them. is this the side effect of chemo. doctor pl help me to come out of confusion as i have heard that after 2nd or 3rd chemo there is hair loss but i had before one week of second chemo.
doctor pl help me as to whether during chemotherapy i can go for dental as after one week of first chemo i had very low white blood count.
thanks doctor
Ideally, you should avoid any dental procedures while undergoing chemo. Simple filling is fine, but root canal and other such procedures should be avoided. If it's not urgent, let your chemo get over and then visit your dentist.
Hair fall varies from patient to patient. Some patients have it after first chemo itself, while others have after 2nd or 3rd chemo. It is not predictable. Even if you have had hair fall after 1st chemo, it is normal, it is nothing to be worried about.
Hi there, if ur hairs are stuck to each other, that means that most probably those hairs are detached from ur head from root level - ie they are already fallen. Its just stuck by sticking to other hair. my personal advice, get very short hair cut. you mite want to consider shaving off completely - at times its difficult to see more and more hair loosing each day so its better to shave off all together.
And dont worry....u will surely overcome all this...and think of new hairline after ur treatment, which would be as soft and curly like a new born baby
Hello shirdi
You can try dahi ka mathaa with salt and black pepper two times a day.It will help you to reduce your problem...
hello shirdi, just don't worry,i too went through six chemos and radiation along with surgery exactly at the same age as yours, now it is six years down the lane.just drink lot of fluids like nariyal pani, mathaa and other fruit juices.tc,god be with you!
Hello mintzz - Was all the 6 chemos side effects same as 1st or they go on increasing after each chemo
Helloshirdi, sorry to hear that you have also been affected by this disease. Are you in Delhi or outside Delhi? I just finished my radiation ( the final stage ) of the treatment in February this year and so far so good. Please drink a lot of plain water before, during and after the chemo. Start drinking the water 24 hrs before your chemo starts and also during the chemo. As Dr. sumeet mentioned you must have been protected against side effects which are there by your, oncologists. If possible keep some ice cubes in your mouth during the chemo to reduce the mouth sores. Candy ice cream helps after the chemo to reduce mouth
sores. Shirdi things are easier said than done the treatment is long but be positive and have full trust and faith in your doctors please. Please eat well during your treatment and thereafter too. Diet is a very important factor for all of us. God is with all of us and He will look after you positively. Wish you all the best and be POSITIVE. If you are in Delhi send me. A message through this forum. This is a. Wonderful forum for us.
thanks
i m not in delhi. what diet u had during chemo and radiation. was the radiation painful and how many time it took for healing the burning effect or radiation
hi rgci13
just wanted to know how was ur chemo and how u managed it.. what was the effect of chemo after 3-4 chemos. as it is very hot in maharashtra temperature is more than 44. and will also have to go for radiation. u have over come all the effects of radiation or still some effects are there and what are they. most probably i will be starting radiation in august or september
Hi shirdi, the chosen children of God can overcome all barriers, don't worry. I know it is now easier for me to say but while going through the doctors gave a lot of encouragement at RGCI, and to tell you very frankly once you go into the hospital you feel more at home because you are not the only one suffering. The treatment very truly is a marathon but your positive attitude will pull you through. Your family and friends should be able to give you a big moral support. Though I am writing all this but I really do not how I will take if it reoccurs. The president of Indian Cancer Society Mrs. Indubala fought the threat 5 times and she at present an English professor in Delhi University. World war was fought only twice she fought 5 times. I cannot say whether anyone can really go through this for 5 times. My daughter's mother-in -law foughtthisfor17 years and went all over the world whenever she was better. So shirdi take each day as it comes, you have your office which is again very big support after the first few days of the chemo. Your diet should be protein supplemented, and liquids in all forms, best is water. Have whatever you feel like eating duringthechemo but take advise from your docs what to avoid. First finish your chemo and surgery then when you go for radiation I will tell you what to do. Don't worry about radiation at this moment. You have finished 3chemos and successfully completethefinal three. Hope I did not give you too much lecture take in what ever you think is relevant for you. Shirdi I wish you all the best from the bottom of my heart and am sure everyone member of this forum is behind you, specially Dr.Shah. Take care my dear . Post soon!
hi rgci13
thanks for encouraging me dear i have completed 2 chemos and still have to go 4 more. u r correct that when we go to hospital i feel more at home and by looking others i think that i m less sufferer than others.. i also think that my family my friends and my office and my clients are very big support for me. when i go to office i forget everything and i m very happy that time. but have that fear if it comes again how i will be cause i m eagerly waiting for my this treatment to be completed and i pray to god to give me courage to complete 6 chemos and radiation. dear trust me u did not give me much lecture. but u know i check mail twice a day to see whether i have got some reply and see whether i will get some advice for revealing from the pain.
thanks to all of u and this forum with whom i get courage to fight with every thing
thanks
