I am here for my sister who's been Daigonised just few days back . It is grade 2. Do we go for lumpectomy or Masectomy ? Very new to all this n kinda confused and worried.

Hopefully you can find an oncologist who focuses on breast cancer. Did your doctor make a recommendation, or leave the choice up to your sister? She should at least have an opportunity to discuss the pros and cons of each choice. If you aren't comfortable with how much you are being told, consider a second opinion. Also, ask that the surgeon is one who specializes in breast cancer if possible.

Don't let anyone rush your sister into surgery and treatment. She needs to move forward with it, but she has time to get her questions answered. Take a recording device or use a phone app to record appointments. It is common for the brain to just shut down and not process what is being said when trying to deal with foreign information while stressed.

My breast center has a recorder in every room. If the patient doesn't turn it on, the person you are talking with does it for you. It is very helpful to be able to listen again later, more than once if needed. It is also an easy way for your sister to share what was said if there is someone important to her who couldn't be at the appointment.

Do you have more details from the biopsy report? Have your sister ask for copies of all of her reports - biopsy results, scan reports, blood work - and start a file. It will give you a place to start from when figuring out questions to ask.
