Chemo has some immediate side effects and a few delayed effects. The immediate side effects like nausea, vomiting, bowel upsets etc. all settle down with a couple of weeks of stopping chemo. Other side effects like weakness, tingling in the hands and feet etc. may persist for some time. Hair will start coming back soon after chemo is stopped, and by three to six months, hair will grow to good length.

thanks Dr. Sumeet.

just want to know that whether ever i will be normal like before at least after 6 months and i can live normally. what precautions will have to take in future so that i wont have any recurrance. I am ER PR positive and HER - 2 negative.

shirdi, by 6 months, you will DEFINITELY be normal, for sure. There are no precautions as such. For ER+, your oncologist will prescribe a hormonal therapy (in tablet form), which u have to take for 5 years.

Shirdi, once this is all over... you'll come out bright and look back to this as a testing period in your life. You would have gained so much from this that it will change the way you will see things. You will come out a more optimistic person than ever. I know as I have been through hell... but every second that I breathe now, I know that there are a million reasons why I am here and will continue to be here with my loved ones and you guys.

Going through chemo is tough honey, but as Dr. Sumeet said, just 6 months and you're going to be fine.

Love and prayers,

Shikha
