it all depends on the protocols at your health authority I believe.
But give MacMillan a ring, they might know.
Hi Lauren
As Happyrosie stated, it depends on your centre.
At Princess Margaret in Toronto there is a rapid diagnostic centre, you get your results in the same day, which can be wonderful.
I chose a centre more convenient to me and results took about a week(maybe less, can't recall exactly). This did not result in any worse outcomes and treatment was started very quickly. For me, it has been wonderful going to a regional cancer centre, walking distance from my home. I felt the care was top notch and if I ever do need a clinical trial or the use of the academic centre further away, it will always be an option
Im in Edinburgh, Scotland. I had all my tests in one day including the biopsy. When you get a biopsy you know there is a tumour but not what type. My consultant told me informally there and then that I had breast cancer but that it eas an easy fix. I had a formal appointment with once the biopsy results were in where the type of tumour and treatment plan were discussed. I was also allocated a nurse who I could phone at any time with any worries etc.My tumour was removed soon after , I had a daily dose of radiotherapy for a week and now take letrozole, an oestrogren blocker. I will be checked annualy for 10 years.
Thats my journey. Hope it helps.
