Hi had a lumpectomy yesterday, the surgeon said I was borderline for radiotherapy. Please can you cross your fingers that I don’t need it. 💐🤞

Anytime Karina 🌷

Do you feel OK after you Surgery & come home the same day or following day?

Try not to worry about the next step, they will go over all the options with you & the Consultant actually feeds all your information into system on the Computer which shows all the benefits of next stage of treatment, l’ve forgotten what it’s called but l’ll see if l can find the link.

Karina, it’s called Predict & they put in your age, type of Cancer etc & it shows you the benefits of additional treatment. In my case l had an 11% chance of improving my Survival Rate at 5years & 10years so it was worth going ahead with the Chemo.

The Consultant does it once they have the results of the biopsy.

I have that test which now I dont believe it too much. I was only 0.08% chance to return cancer and I was dx a year later again w cancer. However, my onc delayed my 2nd dx. Bc she said it was a scar tissue and it was cancer. I got that bump 6 months later after my double mastectomy. Bc she didnt listen to me now I am stage 4.

I’m so sorry to hear that Nmartinez 🌷

Are you having further treatment?

Sending you my Very Best Wishes 🌷🌷

Yes, I dx w cancer metastatic in my spine in January. I have 3 surgeries since then. They removed my ovaries, remove the tumour in my right breast and then they repair my fracture in my spine. I have 30 sections of radiations, taking letrozole and start again with Ibrance in July. The onc have to stop Ibrance bc my white cell count was very low. I am doing better thanks to God but I was not happy when I found about this in January. I still have pain but I am removing and will replace my implants for smalls ones. My back still hurt even though that I am done w radiation.

Oh I am so sorry you have had to go through all this with all the additional surgeries. Sending you positive thoughts & prayer 💕

I think someone answered you by mistake as if you might need chemotherapy. But I understand that you’re waiting to know if you need chemotherapy. It also depends which breast was operated on. I had the lumpectomy in my left breast so my worry was about the radiation being away, as much as possible, from my heart.

Hope you don’t need any extra treatment.

xx

I was unaware that Predict didn’t also include Radiotherapy as an option. Is there a similar tool for adding Radiotherapy?

I seemed to have made a mistake as meant radiotherapy and not chemo. I had the test to check for chemo in 2012 so maybe there are now more advanced tests. I was glad not to have needed chemotherapy but one can opt out of radiotherapy I think. A chat with an experienced oncologist could be of help for 1964-Karina

Thanks Vikki l thought both options came up if it was appropriate but Karina’s Consultant will use Predict if appropriate or a similar one when seeing if Radiotherapy would be of benefit or not.

Nothing, in my opinion, is rubbish if it makes you laugh (at their stupid stories maybe) and/or relaxed. This is so important for our wellbeing. I know of a school which starts every morning with a session of mindfulness. What can be better than feeling relaxed before starting lessons?

I am sure that my breast cancer was due to stress.

So, don’t feel bad to watch whatever reduces your stress.

All the best,

Vicky
