Being on tamoxiphen did your oncologists suggest taking vitamin D and calcium. Also what's good for the joint pain?

I have just started Tamoxifen and would be interested about the vit D and calcium. I wasn't told to take them. Fortunately my aches and pains seemed to have subsided now I have changed to Tamoxifen xx

i was at a nutrition workshop thru our local cancer support charity and she said that you dint need calcium supplements if you take 1/2 pint of milk, pot of yoghurt and a small piece of cheese a day. That will give you your daily allowance.

VitD - we should all take supplements esp as we dont get much sun here and due to radiotherapy have to be extra careful in sun. I was recently given full blood checks and i am vitD deficient so taking supplements.

I take glucosamine and cod liver oil capsules for Joints and it has helped a lot x I am on Adcal-D as I am now on letrozole and alendroic acid to try to limit bone deterioration.

Tamoxifen is not known to cause this but letrozole is.

Hi Patrenee, I was on Tamoxifen for 7 years and throughout that time took Caltrate plus - a combined calcium and vitamin D tablet at the direction of my Oncologist. Best wishes to you

Cheers Judy
