Hello: I'm hoping by joining this group... - My Breast Cancer ...
Hello
Hi you don't say how you are feeling right now after your treatments. Hopefully you are recovering well. I just found myself fitting in as much as I could - seeing friends, eating out, walking and generally keeping busy. Although I still have scars from the process - lymphoedema, toe nails are not good etc. but you just have to forget about them and get on with your normal life as much as possible. Hope this helps
Hi sorry after treatment I felt very alone no more appt every week so didn't have anyone to chat to that new what I was going or been through & I didn't want to keep going on to my family I was just trying to stay positive , now I feel ok getting on with life apart from bring in pain everyday life is good, I feel so much better knowing this site is here if I have any questions silly or not. π
I agree with Chrissie2. You have to get on with life as normal. I'm still new to this process. It's been a bit if a roller coaster this last 5 months from diagnosis to lumpectomy to radio. I consider myself to be very lucky. Mine was picked up on routine mammogram by a very diligent radiologist who told me he went back to my films a second time because he wasn't satisfied. I'm now a week away from returning to work and getting life back on track.
Well done I was the same it was my 1st mamagrame, I really do feel like one of the lucky ones we should not let it run our life's but it is still good to have this site to talk to people going through the same thing.
Sorry I didn't get back to you yesterday but my phone was playing up! About the pain - you need to get some help as mentioned in other replies. Please don't think that any of your comments are silly - there are probably other people with the same questions. Keep smiling
Good luck with your recovery. Despite what it feels like one day you will realise that things are getting better....if pain isn't improving, go back to your breast care nurse and check that no infection, or seek referral to pain clinic if it endures. If there has been nerve damage during surgery this can lead to ongoing pain and needs separate and dedicated treatment.
I have been referred for a wellbeing course by my local hospital. Its run by macmillan and has been quite enlightening. It helps to put things in perspective, help stop dwelling on the past and feel more positive about the future (something I think most people would benefit from). I recommend everbody give it a try if offered.
