The last few days the left side of my head feels like soomeone is trying to crush it. I'm still waiting for appointments with specialist after leaving hospital 6 wks ago. Any advice would be grateful

Dear Beany, what type of bleed did you have? Did you have surgery? I had a a large bleed in August 2017 and all I can say is 6 weeks is very early. At that stage, I was still on morphene for the headaches and taking anti sickness tablets. The left side of my head hurt and still hurts but no where near what it used to. I found at the 6-12 weeks stage, lots of short naps and rests throughout the day. I also started taking omega supplement, vitamin b12, and magnesium. The doctor prescribed Amitriptyline 25mg at that time which helped me to sleep. I hope this helps. It has been a very long journey for me and I am still on it but be patient with yourself, I understand how hard this is though. X

I had a SHD, I had wire and camera in groin to see if they could find what had caused it but they couldn't find out how it happened. Hospital have been a nightmare, I was sent back there weds by doctor for another ct scan as I was nit well waited 7 and half hrs to only be sent home and told I would get a call for 1 on Thursday but no one called. I have rang th today to find out what's going on and now yet again I'm still waiting. I'm very angry and stressed out by it all as I am due back to work on Monday

Hi Beany, sorry to ask but what is a SHD? My immediate aftercare was brilliant but since discharge, it took me 14 months to get an appointment. I ended up paying to see a neuro privately as my GP wasn’t a specialist and I was in too much pain. I would advise you keep calling. Try and get hold of the Neurosurgeons secretarys number. Surely, they should be seeing you in clinic soon. I went through a bit if being passed to person after person hassle and finally I knew where I was in the queue. In terms of work, surely your GP would provide a note if you are suffering from headaches and nausea. I tried going back but wasn’t even able to function like I used to so had to make some life changing decisions. I am not sure whether you should be going back already so it may be worth going to see your GP.

Subarachnoid hemorrhage, it was the doctor who sent me to hospital. I am now sat waiting to hear what they are going to do as they don't want to give me another ct scan as I have had 5 already and a lumbar puction done. Do you have days where you just want to hide in doors away from everyone? Have your family been a good support?

Hi Beany, yes of course I do but my biggest piece of advice to you is to be patient with yourself. I am 18 months post SAH and still have these days. The problem they have the research around the brain is so limited compare to the heart, and other main organs of the body. If you have already had 5 scans, that does show they are trying, and they have done an angiogram too so it’s not like they have just left you alone, although it may feel like it as you have had no answers. Just try and be patient and get yourself some more time off work. I don’t think going back 2 months after a brain bleed is enough tome to heal. My neuro said at least 6 months although I fought back in after 12 weeks and then realised quickly it was too soon. Keep banging the door, you will get an answer I am sure. Keep us posted!

Hoping things get easier soon. I had a brain aneurysm operation in August 2019. I still get headaches regularly and nausea occasionally. My Neuro Surgeon told me the headaches would persist for many months after. I have a follow up angiogram next week. Take special care.
