Thank you I think trust your dr and you will be fine . I am absolutely fine and now grateful and thankful I did the opp. Blood thinners for a long time
Yes it’s important to trust I think that’s the hard bit... giving over control. So glad for you and looking forward to feeling the relief. We’re you on thinners before and after? Or just since the op! Will you go home tomorrow... it’s amazing isn’t it??
I know positive mental attitude goes a long way. Feel better now I’ve met a lovely person through Headway and actually been around the hospital. She’s helped my confidence lots.
Stay well and glad your now on the mend with a peaceful mind👍🏻😌xx
I wasn't on blood thinners though they gave me an injection of heparin just before the coiling. As far as I understand thinners are only needed if they put in a stent to keep the coils in place
On way home now. Stayed in icu because of no beds in main ward. All went fantastically and I think my advise is to be calm and prepared. I brought my own soft blanket from home and had my iPad and even watched bbc iPlayer and Netflix’s. Trust your surgeon the nh front line staff nurses are amazing and they work so hard . I will try to remain as positive as I can. No headache really and slightly bruised puncture site. Ask me anything - sometimes these sites can tell forget the positive outcomes of the surgery. Lots of love xxxxx from a positive Charing c hospital
Morning, all great, went to wedding at weekend and had a long weekend by the beach so it was the first time I actually walke and the sun was amaIng. A bit out of breath and left wedding party early because of noise. But feel almost back to normal... I have a very good husband who actually likes cleaning. I had a uti and had to go on antibiotics, no real headaches just was tired the first week and had of visitors. Feeling very positive and grateful and so please I did this operation.
Very best of luck, buy some pillow spray neals yard ( mine was a gift) and it will relax you when sleeping and I also used it in the hospitalxxxxxxx keep me posted Andrea x
So glad your doing fine and it’s fab that your up and about especially as this weather is perfect to relax in. Will get some pillow spray as you recommend.
I guess everyone has different outcomes😌I’m expecting to feel rough and warned my husband of possible effects he’s on board with it and know it’s not going to be a quick few days recovery. I’ve been busy doing lots of walking and keeping fit before the op.. just so want to get to the other side of it now.. will keep you posted and best of luck for a speedy recovery👍🏻😌xx
Wow! I'm so pleased after the disappointment of those cancellations. It sounds as if everything has gone really well 😊😊. I was kept in a week after my coiling, so don't try to run before you can walk! Take it easy when you get home and let the family take the strain. The tiredness is the biggest thing but I tried to do one extra small thing everyday to feel I was making progress and l'm feeling great after four months. I can drive again too which is great. Don't forget to look after your emotions, I still get caught out with tears when I least expect it. Take care, Jac.
Dear jac what a lovely message . I am still in icu due to no beds and going home tomorrow. I really don’t feel any pain in my head and I think they are all surprised at my quick recovery . I did have a ct scan last night due to pupils different sizes but all intact. Blood thinners because if stent keeping in place. Appreciate your kind words and I hope to driving next week am I too optimistic?
How you feeling about it... I’m still full of dread but this site helps keep things in perspective.. where are you having yours done? Mine is the Walton Centre Liverpool
Terrified and just thinking about the relief when it’s over been putting it off for 4 years!!!!! As long as I wake up with all senses!!! I can stand a bit of a headache and feeling rough👍🏻What date is yours?
It’s 6.5mm in the posterior communication region that is being coiled but got another which is basilar tip which I think he’s going to look at. Not had an angiogram yet but going to do one when I’m under!🙄 got another 2 but so small... just going to monitor with my annual MRI’s....., ahhhhhh I’m terrified!!!! Where’s yours? X
I get very occasional sharp pains in my eye but my vision isn't affected. A few months ago after pulling my grandson on a sledge I had a pain which was ten times more severe and lasted much longer. I saw it as a warning sign and thus asked to have the coils x
Yes I guess it’s better to be safe! I had a recommended MRI 4 years ago as I’ve got PKD like my late Mum as the condition causes brain aneurysms. It was found I had 4 but otherwise wouldn’t even know.
I’ve been worried that I’m well and may not be after coiling but I guess if the worst happens as it did with Mum at my age (58) it will very likely be fatal.
Let me know how is goes, but yes uplifting stories are always good to hear. I am 2 weeks post opp today and all is good. Very best of luck where is your opp
Just thinking about you on this lovely sunny happy day and wondering how your getting on. My op is looming and had my pre op... well half of it!! It’s a bit of a story!
Starting to accept it now though and busy preparing myself.
Can’t find our previous conversation but just wonder how your feeling. Had my pre op and counting down the days now till coiling. Going in Monday op on Tuesday Ahhh how you doing with the nerves????! Xx
Really pleased that all is going well for you. As for those still waiting, there is a Facebook group for people who had a SAH and most of them were operated on at Walton hospital. They spek very highly of it so I'm sure you'll be in safe hands. Good luck!
I’m not on Facebook but sometimes can view it! Has it a title this particular part.. thanks for the reassurance... all the surgeons in this field of surgery are amazing and do feel a little more in good hands after my pre op.
The Facebook group is called ' Brain Haemorrhage Support Group -UK'. It's a closed group but you just ask to join. The majority have had their surgery at Walton and say very good things about it. There's a mixture of people and they have a variety of aneurysms etc. They are very supportive and can answer your questions. I'm surprised how young the majority are, some only in their 30s. Walton seems to be very good at follow-up for its patients.
Good luck tomorrow when you go in and for the op on Tuesday. These specialists are so highly skilled and knowledgable that it's just a matter of trust and letting them do their job. Please let us know how you get on. Then you can get on with the rest of your life!
Apologies for my late reply. Been out doing last visits🙄😌 yes they are totally brilliant and know it’s an everyday thing for them. I looked long and hard for someone who I’m comfortable with and I’m happy with Walton
I’m going to try and get on this closed site and take a look.
Thanks for your post and advice and I will surely let you know how I get on
Hi how did ur surgery go i have been readin these msgs lol im just curious as to the size of the other 2 small ones u have that they are just monitoring as mine is 2.3mm on my right side x
My other 2 are about 3mm but have multi on the other side of my brain which are so tiny. The one ther sorted out was 6mm in the pcom which at the back and a dangerous place.
A lot depends on the area of the brain, the size and whether they are stable or not. I’ve had an cerebral angiogram now is gold star X-ray which I’m happier about so surgeon knows exactly what’s up there.
They couldn’t stent it though as I had taken blood thinners for a week but had a tolerance to it and was too dangerous to stent without that so at my 6 MRI if the coils have compacted I may have to have a stent... but will cross that bridge if I get to it... a slight worry. To be blunt after seeing some of the unfortunate people in there who had a rupture I would do anything to avoid that. As you’ve read my posts you’ll have gathered that I’m completely terrified but would still have more surgery if need be.
They can do so much so why take the risk. Think you have to trust your surgeons opinion.
I’m doing ok just so exhausted but a lot of that is from the op. Still here though and that’s the best thing in the world xxx
Surgeon opinion is..leave it be....its 2.3mm too small to cause probs too small to burst(0.05% chance)if they start to play around with it, it can trigger somet and they could burst it themselves its not growin or hasnt since 2014
