The pill is usually one of the most reliable forms of contraceptives as long as it's taken properly (every day and if on mini pill at the same time everyday) but obviously nothing is 100%. I have been on.the pill for approx 20 years and only got pregnant the 2x we came off and wanted to conceive x

no got pregnant taking the pill and also got pregnant on the shot.

Hi There,

The contraceptive pill is a reliable method when taken every day on time, for preventing pregnancy. If you are on the combined pill then it's very important that the 7 day break is never longer than that. Or if on the 'mini pill' then you must never have a break. Thing like having a very bad stomach upset can affect how well the pill is being absorbed, or if you vomited within 2 hours of taking it, you would to take another one that day. But if none of these things have been an issue for you, then it is a highly reliable method.

Best Wishes

Jules
