Yes one friend and a family member suffered this fate, the doctor was right.

Sorry Margo sent you a reply that was meant for Verauk.

This condition is a horrible thought and really puts me off taking them. I am on a Bisphosphonate holiday due to start again next year I just hope that I dont have to. Would like to know a bit more about the circumstances around your friend and family member Osteonecrosis such as did they have cancer, were they on chemo. Oral hygiene

Yes they had cancer, and had taken medications, which I suspect caused the osteoporosis. I wouldn't touch bishophanates with a barge pole. I had/have osteoporosis and treat myself with supplements, don't bother with DEXA scans/doctors/consultants, take care of myself and I believe I am fine with plenty of dancing, exercise, I tap dance twice a week....

Very interesting point of view, it is one on those conditions that has strong feeling against Bisphosphonates. I know that when i started on Alendronic acid I could cope with the musculoskeletal pain and after 6 weeks I was changed to Ibandronic acid that wasnt as bad. My Auntie fractured her foot in multiple places after twisting he ankle; she was on Fosamax which I understand is banned in USA. I have a lot of questions for the specialist when they want to put me back on this stuff next year.

Why would you want to take pharmaceutical medications when there are lots of natural supplements to take. Educate yourself watch Dr Eric Berg/Dr Mercola.

Margo you really have to be so careful about what’s on the internet. I have just had a look at Dr Eric Berg/Dr Mercola and asked if they are genuine and this popped up straight away: Dr Idz exposes fake DR Eric Berg and in this you tube vid Dr Idz highlights each claim that DR Berg makes. Have a look.

I’m not saying that DR Berg is wrong on everything but some of the recommendations are suspect. When educating yourself you should look a substantial body of evidence called a literature search. When I studied for my masters degree I went through about approx 70 documents for my thesis it took a long time but then I felt comfortable with the outcome.

With this You tube stuff your data is biased. However there is certainly some evidence that supports not taking Bisphosphonates and finding an alternative.

Be careful out there there so much mis-information around.

Yes you are right so much mis-information. And who is Dr Idz??? Never heard of him, but you are trusting his advice? You make your own decisions and take your medications. I prefer to be well and put my trust in Dr Eric Berg and Dr Mercola, and live a great healthy life….Don’t worry about me and my research I know who’s who.

OK DR Idz qualifications started with Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery and has MRes, Dip IBLM.

I think you misunderstand the point you did tell me to ‘Educate yourself watch Dr Eric Berg/Dr Mercola’ which is fine so I did and found out that other doctors do not think they are necessarily correct. If you dont like Dr Idz try Dr Brad Stanfield.

I’m not challenging your beliefs just like to justify why I would go against the advice of my Doctor and if I am going to do that I need a damn good case to have an intelligent debate with someone who has spent years and years getting educated in medicine. I dont want to go into his office quoting someone who also just happens to sell supplements.🤔

I prefer to trust my doctor and dentist. Yes it happens (rarely), but anyone can post on YouTube qualified or otherwise. I had to have a tooth out and I was very concerned but my doctor and dentist assured me that it was very rare, my dentist said that he’d had to pull many teeth of people taking Alendronic acid, and none had developed necrosis.

If a tooth really can’t be saved, there isn’t a choice so try not to worry

I’ve had at least one tooth out and several crowns fitted since being on alendronic acid. My dentist has been very reassuring about the possibility of necrosis and I trust him!

Thanks Lunasgran it is nice to have the experience return of you girls. I always say here that I dont experienced any side affects with the risedronate, but this necrosis of jaw rally scares me. I used to visit my dentist twice a year, so I really hope I wont have any problemas related to this. Thanks again

NOS UK state on their web site that it is 1 to 10 in 10000. However that number also includes people on chemotherapy, have cancer, or on steroids or have bad mouth hygiene so who knows what it is really.

Cleveland clinic in USA quotes 2 in 100 but these are all people with cancer.

its really important that when looking at data we compare like with like and be very careful of people lying with statistics.

I would be very interested if you find anything else to support the theory that it is higher than we think as it does worry me and even had a dream where I was spitting out teeth.😕
