Pilates for osteoporosis in the Cambridge/Royston area?

Hi, I have been doing Pilates for 15 years but when I was recently diagnosed with osteoporosis, my teacher advised she was no longer comfortable teaching me due to my very low T-score and previous vertebral fracture (only 1), despite the fact that she has the "bone health" qualification from Body Control Pilates. She advised me to find a Pilates teacher who is also a qualified physio, but I have only been able to find one such in the area where I live, and she is currently off work recovering from surgery. Is there anyone on here from the South Cambridge/North Hertfordshire area who knows of a Pilates teacher (physio or not) who is qualified to teach people with moderately severe osteoporosis? Ideally I would like to join a group class for the social benefits, but I would consider private lessons if necessary. I have also had to give up yoga and am really frustrated with not being able to keep up my strength and flexibility regime! Thank you.

I only know of one in Bedford , whilst not a physio is recommended by local physio's , She does do 1:1 lessons but might be too far for you to travel.

I follow a lady on Instagram called osteoporosis.pilates She has her own web page, I can't remember which part of the UK she's in but does online classes too. If you get in touch with her, she could recommend someone if she is not able to help you.

There is a lady that I go to for Pilates and weights one to ones, she really helped me get back to fitness and mobility after three spinal fractures. She created a tailored programme that has evolved and developed as I got stronger. She is based in Marston Moretaine ( near Bedford), She also offers an online option via zoom which may work after a few face to face sessions.

Thanks everyone. I found a class in Letchworth, which is closer to me than Bedford. Trial lesson booked in 2 weeks' time.

I understand where you’re coming from. I’ve decided that it’s better to be fracture free than supple… but it still annoys me ! Good luck!

Hello. I’m curious at what t-score is it advisable to have a specialist Pilates instructor, if you’re comfortable with sharing. Thank you.

My T score is -3.5. The consultant definitely said I would need exercise adaptations, but I’m not sure a physiotherapist instructor is really necessary. That was just my old teacher’s opinion, not the doctor’s.
