It may be best if you visit nos.org.uk/about-osteoporosis/ There is lots of information about OP there.
And then come back to ask us our experiences.
Sprint84,
Have you been diagnosed with osteopenia/osteoporosis ?
Hi yes I have after breaking a vertebra, just falling over in my garden
If you are in the UK I expect you have been given AA and a calcium/Vitamin D prescription? This appears to be the norm.
One can just have a Vitamin D capsule if the doctor and you agree that you have enough calcium in your diet.
It is a good idea to find out your vitamin D levels in both summer and winter months as we do not store vitamin D. I understand you are entitled to this blood test if diagnosed with OP.
Some of us choose to manage our OP without medication and others take medication. It is your choice after you have done your research. Do you know the reason why you have osteoporosis?
Quite a few of us take supplements. K2, magnesium, boron or eat around 6 prunes a day. Some of us drink kefir which some of us think is beneficial.
Exercise is important, weight bearing is best, but only what is right for you personally. Walking is a good all round exercise.
