Becoming a vegetarian

Hi, I hope you are all safe and warm! I have posted this week about my broken ankle and I am very aware that I need to look after myself better, after being diagnosed with osteoporosis in 2009 but not doing much about it. My husband and I are trying to become vegetarians but at the moment our diet is rubbish really, lots of fat and sugar and not much nutrition! Pasta, pizza, vegeburgers, Quorn sausages, quiche. I have sent off for info from the Vegetarian Society.

Any ideas please on making sure I improve our diet? Thanks.

Thanks, I will be including more eggs milk and cheese to make up for the meat and poultry. I don't eat fish or shellfish anyway.

Find creative ways to eat loads of veggies to balance out the carbs and protein. Think about pulses as well as dairy etc. There are loads of good cookery books out there but also look at the veg sections of any cookbook you like and see if you can convert them to mains. Do you like Indian food? There are loads of Indian veggie recipes. I also use google a lot - hmm what can I do with a cauliflower etc. I did a cauliflower and lentil curry btw. Good luck!
