I'm just trying to find my way around. My immediate concern is that I am having a problem with my short term memory. Some of my family members have grown impatient with me. Recently one of them referred to me as having "dementia." I guess misplacing items and not recalling a conversation word for word from 2-3 weeks ago is the litmus test. I feel as though I'm being disregarded by my family. My feelings are hurt but mostly I am angry.

I agree you should talk to a gp. There are lots of things which can give this symptom, even lack of vitamin b12 can in its later stages cause it.

A visit to your GP will confirm either way, take a member of your family with you. I often feel I am losing it but its usually too much on my mind, I leave notes of things I dont want to forget.

I think most of us misplace items , forget where we parked the car etc . Try not to worry maybe better to tell the family how much it hurts rather than angers you.

I know just how you feel. When i was in hospital the other week my eldest daughter had me tested for Dementia. The reason being I had sent different texts to her and her sister. They were both true i just sent different ones to them as i remembered them. The Doctor said there was nothing wrong with my memory. I'm on meds that do affect my memory . Her excuse was she cared. Her own children disagreed with her for doing it. I admit i do forget things even when talking to people i lose track, or forget what we are talking about.

Sympathy it affect spelling as well.

Family can be heartless. For some reason we take out our frustrations on those closest to us. This is not ok. I was admitted to hospital with bp of 225/135 & having suffered a series of mini strokes, then diagnosed with a rare blood disorder. When I came out, my husband didnt believe i should feel unwell and told me i was just anxious, he poked fun at the fact that i was walking slowly etc. Not great when youre recovering from such a shock (im 42). He only started to understand when i took him with me to see my consultant atthe Onchology unit, he asked me what onchology was (?) He hasnt complained since. Take them with you to appointments, ask them to read leaflets. Dont go unsupported. X

the replies have been excellent ..... sometimes people can be so cruel and totally tactless ...... I would follow the others who have suggested see your gp ..... tell them all your concerns literally ALL ...... you will feel so much better having shared ..... then take the situation one step at the time .......gosh many in a supermarket car park loose their cars and you see them wandering up and down so frustrated ...... car keys always seem to move by them selves ......my friend has been known to put her purse in the freezer and the bacon in her bag ...... its known as too much on your mind..... thinking about other things ... or exhaustion ..... relax see you gp ans good wishes

Try CoQ10, great for bp in meta analysis and other research shows tremendous results on neurological function. Best yet: it's natural and you will get more energy and blood sugar control to go with that: q10facts.com/high-blood-pre...
