Yes, as KOTC says, interesting, just glad I'm on Symbicort! The UK copd statistics are an eye opener, no wonder many of us in the latter stages are now cared for via the Community Matron Service. Thanks. Libby

Many thanks for sharing this with us.

About 10 years ago I was on Seritide. I have to say that I went around dying on my feet

for a year before I realized it was Seritide causing the problems. I came off Seritide (the problems disappeared) and went on Symbicort which I have been on ever since.

I remember reading that quite a number of people in the USA had died from taking Seritide and I think ,although I cannot be 100 per cent certain, that the US took it off the market.

I have lived in France since Dec 2010 and was on Tiotropium [ Spiriva ] and Seritide since being diagnosed with COPD a few years now. Since I came here I had a test at the hospital and was taken off Seritide and put on a different powder inhaler, Foradil. I was alo told then I had emphasemia. Ii do find I get very breathless and do not feel this new inhaler doing me any good do they prescribe Symbicort over here? Has anyone else been on any of these drugs? I also take a prescribed pill called Oxeol.

I was taking Seritide for a long long time and last year The Royal Brompton changed me to Symbicort (I believe it's a hell of a lot cheaper than Seritide) and I wasn't right at all - have now changed back to Seritide and feel so much better, everyone is different what works for one doesn't work for others...you just have to keep trying. Good Luck X

Oh dear... I'm still not clear as to what is the best one ??

Hi

Call the BLF Helpline and have a chat with one of the nurses - find out about the different treatment options - then you can go back to your GP armed with a lot more knowledge.

03000 030 555.

Thanks

Mark
