“Relationships are the most important overall contributor to happiness.”

Start here and now: Connect with your colleagues and those around you:

• Smile at the person next to you.

• Say hello to the people in the kitchen, corridors.

• Even ask how they are.

• Email – pick up the phone or speak face to face!

• Give gratitude to the person giving out the free paper.

• Make eye contact with the bus driver, and the shop assistant!

• Smile at the people you share the world with.

• Come along to our noon natter – or hold your own!

Why bother? Apparently:

? People with strong and broad social relationships are happier, healthier and live longer.

? Close relationships with family and friends provide love, meaning, support and increase our feelings of self worth.

? Broader networks bring a sense of belonging.

? So connecting with others could help us to be happier…

someone better let David Cameron and his sidekicks its world mental health day seems they have never heard of mental health and what it means to those that suffer from it.

Hi

Yes World COPD Day is Nov 14th this year.

This discussion about the "size" of the BLF is elsewhere on the Community - yes unfortunately the BLF is relatively small in comparision to others (we just srape into the top 2000 charities I think) For more info about the accounts see - blf.org.uk/Page/Audited... - and then this link - blf.org.uk/Page/Annual-... - takes you to the Annual reviews - and that gives breakdowns of where our funding comes from etc.

Thanks

Well, this post has just made me laugh..............and nearly woke my kids up lol!

It says 'start here and now' so I thought I'd give it a go...............I've finished work so colleagues will have to wait and then 'those around you'. I'm on my tod.

So, 'smile at the person next to you' it says. My daughter left her doll on the settee........I smiled at her. There is no one in my kitchen and there no corridors in my house.

What a laugh..............I cheered myself up! Talk about mental health.....I lost the plot yonks ago rofl!

It was my pleasure meeting some members of BLF London staff (All delightful people) yesterday whilst presenting a session of Laughter Yoga. Such warm and welcoming people.

Thank you for all the support given to so many people using this Blog.

My thanks to Katie for yesterday.

With love, light and laughter.

Good idea, smiled at Pete, daughter, son, son-in-law, grandson, other son, daughter-in-law. They all thought I was crazy and I now have face ache! Never mind, I did get some nice smiles back. Mother-in-law has onset dementia at 80 so her mental health is not so great but we all try and keep her on track and happy. Life eh! xxxxxxxxxxxx
