About the Vitamin D

Hello all, has anyone filled in a form for vitamin D from the government and received it please? I filled in the form as I have been housebound with no sun last year and thought it was delivered in January, but not heard anything .

Hi Katie, there was a post this morning that one person had received the vitamin D but not heard of anyone else so far. Hope you hear soon. Xxxx

katieoxo60 in reply to sassy59

Thanks sassy59, I can order them on line or ask my GP but was just checking to see if anyone had had them via the other route.

Hello Katie I haven’t received mine either. I was told back in September to take a daily vitamin D which I’ve done. They are being very slow at getting them out to us clinically extremely vulnerable. Hope you’re getting over your operation. X

katieoxo60 in reply to Maggie153

I'm making slow progress after the op, went to the post box today feel like I've been on first visit to gym :) but thanks for asking. Have to keep watching the post for the vitamin D delivery.

Gosh, why wait for the Gov't---go to Amazon and order Vitamin D3---preferred---5000 IU units---you can get 90 capsules, for under 10 USA Dollars. Not worth the wait--take care of what your Gov't Healthcare, cannot do--Get it delivered to your door--quickly.

katieoxo60 in reply to Nalakrats

Hi Nalakrats , I was just asking if anyone had got theirs as not everyone can afford to buy their own and we don't live in USA . Its part of our winter keep healthy plan by the government and I beleive comes out of the taxes we pay for the NHS. Of course I can ask my GP for a prescription or buy them from Holland & Barrett at a discount. Not everyone has a computer even in this digital day and age. Thank you for your reply though.

wang79 in reply to Nalakrats

Hi NalakratsThis Goverment in the UK make promise and never carry them out . Many people now struggling to buy food never mind vitamins .

Nalakrats in reply to wang79

For those with lung conditions, I would find a way to spend 10-15 US Dollars--for 90 day's supply of Vitamin D3 5,000 IU Units capsules.

How do you apply for vitamin d please

2greys in reply to Spacecat1

katieoxo60 in reply to Spacecat1

Use the link 2greys has sent nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus . You have to be highly vulnerable

Thank you for the link I could not remember where I filled in the form .

Yes I got mine start of January. Remember that I have ordered some over a text message I got from Gov. Took quite a long time when I ask my other half, and he told me you will get them in January, I couldn't remember that LOL 😋. But know that a friend of mine got them actually yesterday. So guess they facing problems with delivery times taking all longer than usual. My sister send me a card for Xmas she send it away on 6th of December from Germany and I got the card on last Friday, over a month, that's really ridiculous but been always this long. That's why I not sending Cards anymore. But I know that other delivery working much faster. Hope you will get them soon Katie best wishes and stay safe and warm 🌹🌹🌹

Sops in reply to MELNEL

I am still waiting for a Christmas card from South Wales!

katieoxo60 in reply to Sops

I got flowers today ordered for Christmas but they are lovely. Card came yesterday. Better late than never hope yours turns up soon

MELNEL in reply to katieoxo60

LOL 🤣🤣 didn't you try to get the money back when you ordered them for Xmas....and didn't turn up in time?

katieoxo60 in reply to MELNEL

My daughter in law bought them but at least we got them

I got mine in December but I’m in Scotland and there’s much less sunshine here! I only took it in case I couldn’t get the online one I buy which has K2 in it as well. Thought supplies might be affected by Brexit.

Just have to wait as they now say it could be February

Nalakrats in reply to teenieleek

Adding K2 to D3, is great for bone density!

No I also filled in the form what seems like ages ago now but not heard a thing and as we are nearing the end of January I think I will be more surprised if they ever arrive than if they don't

katieoxo60 in reply to Snackjack

Seems a bit of an if an when, if at all as you say

Snackjack in reply to katieoxo60

Well I am very surprised, this morning my Vit D tablets have finally arrived. Hope yours also arrive soon.

I received my tablets in this mornings post. I live SE London

I am registered as CEV and filled the online form in November

katieoxo60 in reply to TuckBox2

So I could get my vitamins soon maybe thanks for reply

I have just received a text for my Covid jabs, I'm booked in for Monday 25th

katieoxo60 in reply to TuckBox2

That's good news

Hi l did and received mine just before Christmas from the Scottish government. As someone who has been shielding since the onset of this virus any help is gratefully recieved. Hope you get yours soon

katieoxo60 in reply to Delamere

Thanks for reply

I received mine yesterday but was a waste of time as the dose they are giving out is only 400IU which I believe is only about half the recommended minimum anyway.

katieoxo60 in reply to Matt6096

Thank you for letting me know, you better ask your gp for the correct dose as per recommended

Grayjay in reply to Matt6096

Hi Matt I think 400 is exactly the recommended dose according to info that I've read.👍

meldi44 in reply to Grayjay

Hi Grayjay, expert opinion on minimum daily dose vit.D is 2000IU. Check it out!

Grayjay in reply to meldi44

Hi, yes you're right. I got mixed up with UG and IU.I take 50 UG which works out as 2000 IU.

Kind regards.

Grayjay in reply to Grayjay

Sorry UI not IU 😅

Hi Katie. I have had two letters with regards to vitamin D, one from NHS Scotland and the other from NHS England. I however have not taken them up on the vitamin D because I have sarcoidosis.

The charity SarcoidosisUK fought to have an extra piece of information added because as a sarcoidosis patient we convert vitamin D 2.50 to vitamin D 1.25. This is dangerous for sarcoidosis patients as it can elevate in us and cause problems.

If anyone here is a sarcoidosis patient it is best to contact your consultant and ask for the vitamin D 1.25 blood test to ensure it’s levels are within normal parameters.

If in doubt about taking vitamin D it is always best to have a conversation with your consultant.

Regards, Lesley

I think it was to be delivered after jan 23. Have not received mine as yetj

katieoxo60 in reply to Sops

Thanks for guide line date thats not till next week anyway.

Hi Katie I got mine I think it was November I’m in Scotland hope you get yours soon. I’ve never taken them before but after this I’ll probably buy them myself I’m sure they must do some good. I love gardening so I hope to be outside getting my vitamin d but not today we’ve been told to except up to 40cm of snow today. But I think the flooding in England and Wales that’s worse!! Take care Jen

katieoxo60 in reply to Weejenny

We were supposed to get rain in the Midlands today but its been sunny but cold so far. Might help dry up the floods.

HiI do hope that everyone is coping alright.

Yes, I recently submitted the forms for vD free winter supply and once I have, there was an informative message simply stated they will make a decision by the end of Feb 2021.

So, I am just second guessing that is a matter of waiting game.

Take care. Stay well&sound.

Tanya 🤗

Although I have COPD, Asthma and Left Bundle Branch Block, my GP doesn't class it as severe, so not sheilding; therefore no offer of VIT D from the Scottish Government; I thought this was only in England anyway.I signed up to a vitamin D trial and recieved enough for 6 months in December.

katieoxo60 in reply to Lesleyr14

Thats good news.

I too wondered where the got to .......then I had a delivery yesterday so they are on their way . .....Babs xx

There as recently been an open letter from 200 medics on the subject of vitamin D. The amount advised by the government is a maintenance dose which many experts feel is to low. Interestingly when they signed the document they put how much vitamin D they were taking each day. All were above the government's recommended dose. I contacted my GP when I received the letter and she advised me to take a far higher dose than the government's guidelines. Both my wife and I have conditions which our levels are monitored and both of us are on doses which are far higher than the recommended dose. The main problem with the recommended dose is that they are for the average individual not someone with multiple problems.

katieoxo60 in reply to Badbessie

Thanks for that info

Try calling your doctor direct as when I rang the doctors pharmacy I was told in no uncertain terms to go off and by it myself, so no sympathy there , not that I want to take there money but there are nice ways to explain, so yes if you have a nice doctor and your house bound I think that’s where to start. Good luck 👍🏻

Hi Katie Yes I to have filled a form for vitamin D but no show yet . Might be another goverment back down one of many

Stay safe

katieoxo60 in reply to wang79

Its possible they changed their mind but they are still accepting forms

I applied for these too but haven't received anything yet. I applied the same day I got the notification - can't remember when that was though.

katieoxo60 in reply to ElsaC

I checked mine it was back in November

ElsaC in reply to katieoxo60

That sounds about right - it was some time ago

Hi Katieoxo60,I signed up for the vitamin D and haven't received any yet either

I done it on line in December have not heard a thing no e-mail another con

katieoxo60 in reply to weebandy

I noticed they are giving a number now if you are entitled, but sure there was not one in November.

My late husband was prescribed a weekly Alendronic Acid tablet and daily Adcal-D3 tablets because he was on steroid tablets as long term steroids can affect your bones. He suffered from IPF.

Purple4710 in reply to Piperava

I also take Alendronic Tablets daily plus Chew it tablets for my bones x

Hi, likewise. I completed the necessary form some weeks ago and not heard a dicky bird.

I received mine by normal post yesterday. You should receive it soon

I'm in Scotland, shielded people have text system . I just had to reply 'yes' to the question about receiving vit D. It arrived. You can buy it cheap enough . Good thing to take.

katieoxo60 in reply to Bronchi1

One of the things with buying it most people would not have bought any if they were expecting a delivery.

Hi mine arrived in the post yesterday. Luckily my goddaughter had already sent me a Vitamin D spray so had been using that for a few weeks.

I bought a years worth of d3 1000iu and got one free from NU Nutrition for £12 and gave one to family, so it was really good value . Glad to hear you are getting better Katie, its a slow process but you are getting there x

katieoxo60 in reply to Izb1

Thank you x

I was told not to take more than recommended amount when I asked doctor as it can have an adverse effect on some people.

katieoxo60 in reply to Jaybird19

That is true , it can make you quite ill if you take too much . Thats why the government dose is low I believe

I received mine in December I’m in Scotland x

hi i got mine yesterday 120 tablets so over four months worth i thought theyd forgotten about us but they are being posted

katieoxo60 in reply to dufflex

Thank you for update.

I didnt know there was a form from the GovernmentMy Doctor suggested I start to take Vitamin D daily and said i can get them from any chemist.

Been taking them for about 6 weeks now.

THe form is on the NHS site but you must be a sheilder otherwise you need to get them from the chemist or herbalist.

Thank you. I live alone but not been told to shield even though I have Bronchetisis and Rheumatoid Arthritis

It's usually your doctor who says to shield. I had a letter in March and several since. I live alone too. Your illness ought to allow you to be on the sheilded list in my opinion.

I thought so too but apparently not the case. x

Hi Katieoxo60, funny you should ask that as mine arrived today. Best wishes marlbee

I got mine yesterday. Think it might be due to postal delays, or maybe it’s being done alphabetically or by area. Hopefully yours will come in the next few days 🙂

katieoxo60 in reply to Saracat23

Maybe thank you.

Hi Katie,I filled a form in back in Nov, never heard anything. So when I got gov letter beginning of January I filled it in again but still nothing. So I'm not holding out much hope. 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

katieoxo60 in reply to Bellerini

I have filled in two forms too and accepted as enntitled

Exactly what I did mine arrived today so hopefully yours will arrive soon. If not ask gp to write them up for you.

Hi I completed the form that long ago I forgot about it!

But I've been buying vit d and taking 800iu daily since april when they first said link with covid.

I did check dose was ok for me and my other meds when an inpatient, pharmacist said it was perfect.

This morning however, my free vit d arrived!! So I'll take 2 a day. But you need to just check dose with gp or pharmacist. 🙂.

Received today. Be patient.

It costs little buy it

katieoxo60 in reply to Balloo

It saves chasing it up if we buy it , probably much easier.

Came through the post this morning look like plant seeds lol

katieoxo60 in reply to Pokermon

I’ve not received any either xx

katieoxo60 in reply to Bardear

Some things we have no control over like sickness so as you say fingers crossed.

No Me neither xx

Hi there still none arrived here , but found some on Holland & Barrett , small dosage £3.96 for two bottles of 100 capsules but postage is £2.99 if you can't go in and purchase them.

A nice surprise this morning, my Vit D arrived this morning. I did apply for them twice and had to wait a bit. They are Vit D3, 120 tablets ,400iu. So don't give up hope.😀👍
