Having severe emphysema every time I go outside I seem to suffer the the effects of hay fever. Only a sore throat and more SOB mostly but taking antihistamines only makes me more SOB. The other issue is that the antihistamines only seem to be effective for a few hours.
Any thoughts most welcome please!

Only one that makes you drowsy and I don’t want that.
Perhaps a change f antihistamine would help?
My doctor prescribed Flonase Whig is over the counter in U S.

Only giving another antihistamine that’s makes you drowsy. Not wanting that
N the past I have taken Cetirizine and loratadi e,they both worked for me,didn’t make me drowsy.i also have an nasal spray for allergies.
These were prescribed by a consultant as I’m allergic all the year round.
I have always avoided Piriton,as t makes you drowsy ,it also doesn’t last as long.
Sun glasses or any glasses are helpful especially when going outside.
Vaseline at the tip of your nose may catch some of the pollen.i have found there a no single curejust a lot of little things,wh has might make life a bit more bearable.
Over the last 2 summers,my husband has developed hay fever symptoms,he manages mostly to control with antihistamnes does sneeze a lot in the evening!
I’ve tried all types of antihistamines but all make me more SOB. Oh well just have to grin and bear it until I can see my consultant again. Thanks for the reply and take care
I have the same problem but I take my prescribed anti histamine an hour before bed as they do tend to knock me out. Citrizine is the one I am prescribed, they are supposed to be non drowsy but for me they are stronger than taking a sleeping tablet. Taking at night resolves daily symptons, when pollen count is high. I thought pollen count was low today, it would vary from region to region of course and country.
When pollen count is supposed to be low I still get more SOB and a sore throat. Funny enough a year or so back I had allergy tests done and nothing showed but I have been advised that it might also be dust floating around in the air. Don’t know but I might try Citrizine in case it works better for me
and take it an hour before bed Mike, hope it helps some.
I have hay fever symptoms all year round.i think he ma be because I live in the Countryside.
I manage to get by with a nasL spray and antihistamines.

I too live very near the country in a small town called Malvern in glorious Worcestershire and suffer hay fever symptoms all year round. It would appear that all type of antihistamines and nasal sprays make me more breathless which with only 20% lung function I cannot afford to lose any more breathing capacity. I will have to bite the bullet until I can find a solution. What keeps me going is a positive mental attitude and always looking on the bright.

I thought that I had caught a cold though no one has been near me for 6 weeks or so. Nose runs, eyes water, but worst is the sneezing which is accompanied with a cough. The combination of cough and sneeze could blow my hat off. I've never suffered from hay fever or taken antihistamines, so I'm assuming it is a normal cold and will just wait for it to go away.
Might be hay fever. Experts suggest pollen count highest in years due to wet winter and early spring. Take care and I hope the symptoms don’t last too long
I'd say that's hay fever Don. the way to tell is if the nasal mucus is clear its hayfever.
I have a drug free nasal spray that makes a protective layer in the nose. It feels really weird but does make hay-fever / allergy type symptoms a bit less. It's called prevalin allergy plus.
Try smearing Vaseline in the nostrils before you go out in pollen season. It catches the pollen particles and reduces what you breathe in.
Thank you for your post, I have been having similar symptoms to those you discribe I have COPD and Asthma but no Hayfever before or these type of symptoms. Glad to know it might only be Hayfever.
