Nearly 70 drugs and experimental compounds may be effective in treating the coronavirus, a team of researchers reported on Sunday night.
Some of the medications are already used to treat other diseases, and repurposing them to treat Covid-19, the illness caused by the coronavirus, may be faster than trying to invent a new antiviral from scratch, the scientists said.
Therapeutics may be more of an answer than preventative vaccines since there really is no vaccine for viral infections in general, even influenza is apparently only 30-40% effective. Also I don't understand why it has taken months to get started. Obviously have plenty of patients to randomize and it really is not difficult to write up a double blind study on one compound. We should have results/data by now.
thanks 2greys. I am wondering if they have tried the Tamiflu anti viral drugs which supposedly they over stocked on the Tamiflu scare. Its an anti viral somthing has to have some sort of impact, other than waiting for the vaccine. Would be so much easier if safe anti viral drugs were available.
