Long Covid and Breathlessness

Has anyone experienced increasing breathlessness for months after Covid.

I visited South Africa in February 2022 and caught Covid. I had an episode of acute bronchitis in October. Was hospitalised and treated with IV antibiotics. First time I have ever had a chest infection:

I have had a cardio review and all is normal. He gave me the brown and blue inhalers to try which made a significant difference. Consultant suspects breathlessness may be related to Covid. Awaiting an appointment with a respiratory specialist.

Any thoughts from you good people

Covid seems to affect everyone very differently, even those fully vaccinated. Some shrug it off easily whilst others suffer long term effects. I hope you get your lung specialist appointment through soon and can be helped to fully recover.

Wishing you better days ahead. Xx

yes I have. I has severe covid pneumonia July 21 and spent 3 months in hospital. I’m still breathless 19 months on. Mine is from scarring and fungus related to covid and hospital. I hope you find answers to your issues xx

So sorry to hear that. How has it been treated. Do you have medecine or inhalers? How does it affect your daily life? Have you been given a long term prognosis. X

I hope you will soon start to feel better. Long covid is a b*****. Not enough research is being done into it at the moment.

I’ve heard of this in people with long covid and interestingly, I only read an article yesterday about scientists from a university here who’ve developed probiotics that seem to help combat this problem. You take them for a month I believe. Our gut plays a huge part in our immune system. Prof Tim Spectre of the ZOE covid study has published research and videos on YouTube on the importance of including many different plants, herbs and spices in developing healthy gut bacteria’s and a study showed that those who added many different plants did better fighting covid because they had healthy gut bacterias. itv.com/news/anglia/2022-04...

you’re very welcome and I wish you all the best. I have respiratory problems myself, though it’s well under control. Both my parents had COPD and my practice nurse told me that they now consider anyone who has smoked for over 20 years and has respiratory problems probably has COPD, which is what I suspected. So I’m query COPD. I strongly believe that diet and some supplements have helped and I have taken Vit D3 @ 4,000 IU per day (N.B: 10,000 IU = 250 mg) combined with 200 mg of Vit K2. I also take zinc picolonate and have taken them all since the start of the pandemic. You don’t need to supplement Vit D3 in the summer if you sunbathe as you get Vit D from the sun. I also take magnesium citrate, as low magnesium levels can make Vit D ineffective. Vit K2 prevents a build up of calcium in the arteries, due to too much Vit D3 and magnesium pushes the calcium into the bones, so good for arthritis too and the menopause. You can’t overdose on natural Vit D from the sun, but go out early to prevent sunburn to get your Vit D and expose as much of your body as is decent, but you won’t get any Vit D in winter months, until spring through to October.

I had covid in July 2021. I was hospitalized with double pneumonia and respiratory failure (I was on oxygen and Albuterol inhaler); three months later, I returned to work but it was very difficult. Ive gas lots of respiratory issues since: ongoing asthma (I'm on Breo now, with rescue inhaler), chronic sinus problems and chronicles c fatigue are all the result of covid.

I really hope you can find proactive drs and better health! Covid is no joke; it's affected every part of my life. I joined an organization here in US for ME/CFS to gain some insight and hopefully get some of my stamina back.
