You must decide but personally at this stage I think self isolation is a bit OTT, unless of course you have symptoms.

There are health risks to isolation eg no exercise, harder to buy fresh food, loneliness, depression.

Idont think it is OTT My husband and dog are with me and we have 30 acres of private land that we can go for walks. Yes I know we are privileged . I do have a lot od health problems so in my mind I am sure that we are doing the right thing. You take care. x

Sorry, I only said I thought it was a bit ott because I thought you were looking for opinions. Otherwise I wouldn’t presume to comment, we all have to decide for ourselves. 30acres to walk in, wow that is lucky. I couldn’t bear it though, maybe for two weeks but this could go on for months. I’d miss all my family & friends too much. On the other hand, I’d be unlikely to survive a brush with coronavirus 😕 It’s a very hard balance. Stay well stanns!

I think this must be a personal choice. I have tried to find out the risks to vulnerable people but there is not enough information on the numbers that die in this group. Nor how differing health systems around the world treat and deal with this disease. I wish the reporters would give more balance. For example do they ever report that 7 people from the vulnerable group have recovered? No. They only state the negative. It may reassure the non vulnerable population but it does nothing for us. Personally I am not self isolating at the moment but avoiding any unnecessary contact. Obviously this will change as more information is available.

In the study they did in China, 6.2% of COPD patients who developed severe problems died which meant that 93.8% survived. I reckon that is quite reasonable odds 😀

Reassuring in some ways. However when you have been told you would not survive another dose of pneumonia as bad as the last one then there obviously is anxiety.

I personally think that it's your decision if you self isolate, I would go mad if I couldn't get out but I do understand your feeling the way you do. Have a good night and take care of yourself and your husband 😊 Bernadette xx

Me and my husband have also decided to cut ourselves pretty much off for the time being. Like you we are lucky enough to have the ability to do so. We live on a barge, our garden is the sea wall or allotment. I am (in)famous for the amount of stores I have in my pantry and freezer, so we are okay for a while. In fact it may do us some good to use up some stuff & not spend any money. 😀
