Westfield.welcome to the site but i would hang fire for that consultation as it is highly unusual for a Gp to diagnose fibrosis, scarring in the lungs is observable on chest x ray but normally far more thorough lung function testing and probably ct imaging is performed in order to evaluate its extent.wishing you all the best with that consultation.

How was the diagnosis made? I assume a GP Spirometry test showed a restrictive pattern. I agree with skischool that it would be unusual for a GP to diagnose PF. So do as he says and try to put things on hold until you see the consultant.

All the best

Hi, I had a CT scan and the GP gave me the results of that scan.

Hi there I have been diagnosed with advanced interstitial pulmonary fibrosis, saw a specialist at the royal Brompton Hospital, wait until you get the appointment, just accept the advice and be positive.

God bless and hope your results are good.

Hi Oldspark, is interstitial pulmonary fibrosis the same as interstitial lung disease? I have the latter and wondered if they are the same thing? Thanks gingercat x

Hi ginger cat

I am not really qualified to answer the question, but you can Google it.

Mine is probably related to asbestos? But I am on oxygen 24/7 but mine is getting worse on a daily basis. I do not have any medication but just the concentrator and oxygen cylinders.

I sincerely hope that you get the answers you want. This site is brilliant for support and advice, sorry for late reply.

God bless you and stay well and warm.

Above all remain positive

Ernie
