Cocoa could bring sweet relief to walking pain for people with peripheral artery disease.

Patients with peripheral artery disease (PAD) who consumed a flavanol-rich cocoa beverage three times daily for six months saw significant improvements in their 6-minute walking distance compared to a placebo, in a small, phase II randomized study.

While this data is preliminary and requires confirmation, it suggests a potential therapeutic effect of cocoa on walking performance in patients with PAD.

Although this heart related, PAD & PVD are also caused by smoking and possibly others here suffer this as I do. I wish I had found this years ago, it might have saved me an awful lot of pain.

Are you going to try it?

Yes of course I am going to give it a go. More often than not it is is that pain in my legs that stops me from walking before my lungs do, although nowadays it is a very close second.

I hope it works for you. I have trouble with my muscles and walking it could be PAD or something else. Will you let us know how it goes for you? It would be amazing if it helps. Will you mix with milk or water? I might try it too.

I currently drink a pint of milk a day as a chocolate shake, so not really much difference other than temperature, so probably with milk, or milk and water.

Well i only drink hot chocolate , no tea or coffee. Went off those when I had a certain stomach bug. I think it needs to be really strong chocolate from a report i heard the other day, That report was for the general public,

Good news for chocolate lovers generally.

I do hope it works for you.

Thats good news, for once we can have chocolate for our circulation as well as hot chocolate drinks as they both contain cocoa. I'm joining you 2greys and give it a try. Lets hope it works . Wish we had realised this years ago as you say, I drink hot chocolate but very infrequently so need to up it to see what happens.
