Blocked nose.

Hi. I have COPD and several other disabilities, including type 2 diabetes. My reliever (Salamol) works fine but then breathing can be impaired by a blocked nose. I recently bought some Sudafed to stop this but the instructions say it shouldn't be used if you have diabetes! Can anyone recommend an effective nasal spray that I can use. I've tried Olbas but that's ineffective.

Sometimes you just can't beat the old remedies. Stick a bit of Vicks VapoRub up your hooter. 😉

Neilmed sinus rinse is very good. There is a good video online but I couldn’t get a link from it - check it out.

Also, check with your doctor, but, too much use of nasal spray can be risky you have very fine & sensitive membranes & other sensitive tissues in the nasal passageways, hence warnings of no. Uses per day apply.

Your nose is direct entry to brain etc.

Try sterimar. They have 3 types of nasal sprays depends what you want it to do. All natural. I use the 1 for sinus problems as my nose is always blocked up. Hope this helps.

I was told couldn't use Sudafed ,I have severe COPD. Read on here about Sterimar congestion relief and it really works. I spray once in the morning and it lasts all day no more blocked nose. My Chemist highly recommended it and she was right also lots on this forum using it. It's pure salt water so no additives and absolutely safe. Sheila x

As others have said, but I would try sterimar first a few weeks, if no help then neilmed sinus rinse. Have read somewhere this can wash out good bacteria as well so maybe cutting it down to once or twice a week once congestion cleared

I have copd and was just told by my respiratory nurse-practitioner that KY jelly is good for scab-blocked noses since it is water-based. One cannot use petroleum-based jelly with copd. Also, using KY jelly makes you feel good.

I was advised by Asthma UK and ENT to use Sterimer then Dymista afterwards and very effective
