Nose blockage has probably been around since Adam & Eve's time and yet we humans still do not seem to have any answers.
Having had extensive Lung cancer surgery followed a year later by treatment for the remaining lobe, so more reliant on breathing as good as possible, I find I am also experiencing perpetual nose blockage and must confess that in privacy I find I spend ages picking my nose !!!!!
Can we find some experts to advise........
1. What causes the problem in the first place ?
2. Should surgery be contemplated ?
3. Can we rule in and rule out the expensive medication claims.
Thank you Elora
I will stop like I was told as a kid in the fourties
I await an ENT appointment
My nose gets very dry and I use a thin spear of Vaseline on a cotton bud and this helps also I suck halls mentholyptus plus you can get an olbas oil stick inhaler it looks like a bullet and this is good.
My husband found a saline nasal wash just in the pharmacy - which he has found really helpful when his nose has been really bunged up! TAD x
Hello, Judy from the BLF here - I have been reading up on blocked noses as it also often happens if you have sleep apnoea, which is my area of work. Have you tried a saline nasal spray? You could also ask your GP for a nasal de-congestant, although these can sometimes actually cause a blocked nose if used over a long period. You could also try the old-fashioned way of putting your head over a bowl of hot water with a towel over your head and breathing in for a few minutes - to moisturise and loosen the offending obstacles before bed!
Good luck.
Hi
The other thing to consider is that you may have a separate ear, nose and throat issue - common things are sinnusitis, allergies, rhinitis etc. Commonly overlooked in people with a lung condition - but just as important - and nasal problems can cause problems with lung conditions - ever heard of post nasal drip? - mucous from the nose dripping down the back of the throat that can lead to infections.
Go to your GP to discuss - you may be prescribed a nasal spray.
Thanks
Mark
