A Mayo Clinic-led study involving 3,276 patients has found that people with inflammatory bowel disease, Type 1 diabetes or blood clots may be at increased risk of developing rheumatoid arthritis. The study, published in Mayo Clinic Proceedings, also found that people who have rheumatoid arthritis are at increased risk of developing heart disease, blood clots and sleep apnea.

Thank you 2greys. I have RA (awful name as it gives no idea of its real nature) Most of us prefer the name Rheumatoid Disease but sadly our 'expert' medics still insist on its old name. It's like calling DVT, Varicose veins! And those additional conditions we get can be killers!

My last gp informed me of the dangers of ra which can affect your heart and lungs but strangely the rheumatoid clinic have never mentioned this, shame my present gp hasnt got the same knowledge so we have to gain the knowledge ourselves which is where these articles you post are so helpful, thank you x
