Pet or Nicknames.

It isn't only animal pets

That are given pet names

It used to be that parents

Gave their kids the same.

My dad called me 'Nuisance'

That's what I used to be

Some folk think I still am

On here it's plain to see.

My sister's name was 'Tinkerbell'

Which suited her I think

She was six years older

And I always called her 'Twink'

I don't think this happens now

My kids weren't given pet names

My son was certainly no nuisance

And my daughter is the same.

Good morning Mr. D and another cheery rhyme which suited me just fine at 11am with my morning coffee.

Lovely rhyme once again Don, thank you. I used to call my grandson Tinkerbell when he was very small. I wouldn’t do it now though as he’s 7. Xx 🙄😘💖🥰👍

I had a pet name , given to me by my late mother when I was a baby.....she called me that for the next sixty odd years....except when I was in trouble then she called me by my real name .

My late father called me by two other different pet names ......confusing .

Lots of my school friends and teachers had nicknames too.....Chips , and a few less flattering ones.

Good poem Don. The army had alot of nicknames and they lasted a lifetime, in fact alot of the men I never knew their real names x

My first husband called me 'face' and sometimes 'face ache'. The latter was probably quite appropriate at times!

Never had a nickname, people had enough trouble with my first name, as it was. My mother had been named Georgina, got called George/Jo, so wanted a name for me that could not be shortened. One old guy at a place I worked could not cope with Sorrel, so he just decided to call me Cyril, so I now answer to that as well!!
