Hi, My aunt is a severe asthmatic and is allergic to cat, dog and horse hair. While living in Venezuela for 30 years she realized she didnt get asthma living there. When arriving back in the Uk she started getting attacks again. She removed all the carpets in her new house and she didn't get any asthma attacks. Perhaps you could try this as we all know carpets hold dust and animal hair. All she does now is use a soft brush to brush the floor and avoids using feather bedding. She is delighted with how well she feels.

We have a small Miele - it is great & so strong I can't use it - my husband thinks it is great - it has all the attachments & is Which recommended - Miele do a special carpet sweeper for pet hairs (with the filters) check out the prices on the net before you buy - but personally would recommend.

I only have carpet on my landing and stairs . The rest of my house has wood flooring and bathroom and kitchen have tiled flooring. So much cleaner and less dust. Easier to clean also. Get rid of carpets as they trap dust.x Sheila.

I bought a GTech Air Ram because I could no longer cope with the Dyson. I can't recommend it enough. It seems to have enough traction and suck to be able to pull itself forward. Very light weight, cordless, quiet and easy to empty

Hi stamford1234, the problem i have is pushing a hoover which courses me to struggle with my breathing. I had a look at one of them it says is easy to move about???

I have Serious COPD and can't even lift the dyson out of the cupboard. The GTech is very easy to move about it and is lightweight to lift - good on hard floors and good for getting right under the bed. Long battery life, 40 mins I think. I use it rather than pushing a broom round on the kitchen floor.

It is every bit as good on carpet as the dyson

I leave my husband to hoover, and a robovac to finish the job - very entertaining that is, too!

Thank you I have a robovac it just does not get in to corners. I live on my own and got no one to help me.

I use a damp cloth for the corners.

I also struggled to cope with a heavy vacuum cleaner, after trying severally different brands over the years I purchased a robotic vacuum and it is wonderful. I can program it to Clean downstairs before I get up.

I use a Dyson stick vacuum, its brilliant, so light and picks up very well. I have had quite a few vacs and they are all too heavy, so this is fab x

When I cannot manage even a lightweight hoover I use a Air ram rechargeable carpet SWEEPER [not a vacuum] It is very light and surprisingly efficient and easy to empty.I love mine and dont know what I would do without it. xx

I had to get rid of my hoover as I was finding hard work pushing it around. I now have a stick hoover which very light and easy to use you don't have to spend a lot of money on one.
