Best of luck, Cyprus Pat! I will be waiting to hear how it goes, as I have an implant that is needing to be removed. My pc does not want me to have anesthesia, the oral surgeon's aid says she does not believe that he will remove without anesthesia. I have to go for exam and speak with him. It needs to be removed...not sure what to do! I am hard to wake up..pc knew this before I began using oxygen....🙄As result of ankle surgery. Again, best of luck. J

A while ago I needed an extraction and the dentist said I’d had too much anaesthesia to have any more, but didn’t explain further. I didn’t know there’s “too much” anaesthesia but it seems that’s really a thing. I had the extraction done with injected local anaesthetic. Then I had an implant.but that later got an infection and had to be extracted.

Thanks... Good to know for certain that local will do for implant extraction! I will insist and if he doesnn't want to do it, I will find someone who will! Thanks again.

My dentist has told me if I need an extraction she would refer me to the dental hospital. I am on portable oxygen but her main reason for referring me to the hospital is because of the steroid inhaler (and tablets I take with infections) she is concerned about bleeding and infection. Hope this helps Barbs x

He has prescribed antibiotics to be started the day before and continue afterwards. I am more concerned now I’ve read your reply although he’s aware of the steroid inhaler.

I have to say I was very surprised when my dentist told me but I do trust her. Barbs x

Greetings

My dentist gave me a big injection or two in my gum and off he went. Whoosh. Tooth gone. He just sort of worked round my cannula. Mind you, he's had years of practice! Worry not.

Ha, I think you smickled me! One chomp on a stick of rock, and a molar disintegrated. Extraction at 2 pm.
