Snoring 😴

Is there a link between COPD and snoring ? Apparently I snore really loud every night, I snore as soon as I fall asleep I think I’m driving my family mad! I have no where to sleep as no wants me in there room 🙁also I have had episodes of waking up gasping for breath which is scarey is any of this snoring/COPD related I’m hoping I’m not the only snorer I’m not overweight and have tried nose strips and the obvious preventers, but nothing

Thanksnik72sotired 🤪

I have been sleeping with a CPAP machine for the past 4 years, this has stopped me snoring at night. I got this through a sleep clinic I was referred to via my GP

Sounds like sleep apnea (can't spell it) with the gasping for breath. You need to see a doctor.

I think I snore too, something to do with my sinuses and nasal polyps.

Hi Peege, I have had trouble with sinuses and nasal polyps since childhood but when I was diagnosed with COPD 6 years ago I was prescribed Onbreze inhaler and noticed after a couple of months I no longer had any sinus problems and haven’t had any polyps since which has been a pleasant side effect! May be worth mentioning to your doctor.

Hahaha..sorry but your statement. No place to sleep as no one wants me in their room. I snore as well. The wife wakes me up and makes me turn on my side. I have a temperpedic adjustable king size bed. I have to elevate myself a bit.

Well i also have copd and my other half keeps nudging me of a night to tell me off for snoring. I then usualy wake up with a very dry mouth and need some water, some times I have been getting up 3 or 4 times during the night to go to the Bathroom.

But just a few days ago this problem of getting up in the night, has been resolved i hope by having a mug of Ovaltine with full fat milk before going to bed

In our area you can be given a sleep apnea testing machine to wear overnight from the local hospital if referred by GP or consultant. My husband had one and returned the next night. He was ok

Please go to your gp and tell them about the snoring. It isn’t a laughing matter. Ask for a sleep test as you wake up gasping for breath. Sleep apnoea means you are not getting enough oxygen , it can be obstructive, where the soft palate physically closes up or central, where the message from the brain doesn’t get through. Either way it istreated by use of a cpap machine at night. I have used one for 10 years anD it is my lifeline. Improves my daytime sleepiness and general functioning and means the family can sleep too!

I have a friend with that same problem.Pse see your gp as you can be tested for sleep apnea.

I hate to say it but I have heard it can be dangerous if left untreated

Waking up "gasping for air" sounds like sleep apnea. You need to have a sleep study done. I had an overnight sleep study at home, but I had to go to a sleep lab to get set up for a cpap machine. If I don't use the machine at night, I snore.

Hi....go have a sleep test!! Sleep Apnea can cause so many health problems especially heart ones....it matters not your size or sex....if you snore and have apneas better safe than sorry....it will take awhile for you to get use to your machine...after that....it's becomes your magical sleep machine...you will sleep well and feel rested...I am still amazed after four years. Whitechincilla, Peege, and RedSox and KatherineK....all wise and knowledgeable advice. P.S. and Trevorio, too!!

Take care....enjoy the season....
