Medicinal cannabis

I’ve been told by my GP that he can no longer prescribe Fentanyl lozenges for my breakthrough pain. I’ve always known they are palliative care drugs. They worked for me. Now I’m stressed about how I’ll cope when my last two are gone. Has anyone else had medicinal cannabis prescribed? If so did it work?

Fentanyl is 100 times stronger than morphine. I was on morphine patches years ago. I’ve been on this type of medication for 16 years. I wish I wasn’t, but such is life. I’ve suffered 5 spinal crush fractures, 0lus numerous other fractures. Being in control of my pain means the difference of being able to function properly.

I know what you’re saying I have severe arthritis of the lumbar region of my spine I’m on 20/microg an hour there better than the fentanl it a man made morphine I take other painkillers as well it’s a long slog to get pain under control I hope you find something that works for you sorry for the pun but it’s a pain in the bum

I’m in control most of the time, my “ cocktail “ works. Every so often I get breakthrough pain, that’s when these lozenges work. My 75mg patch gets changed every 48 hours because my metabolism absorbs it quickly. The lozenge cost £6 each, hence the reason for not prescribing. I’m curious about medicinal cannibis, I’ve that just three drops under your tongue twice a day works wonders. Also it’s brilliant for any ailments. When I take the lozenge I’m no use to anyone. No pain = No brain. So I’m ready to try anything. Imagine breaking your back five times, my vertebrae are either damaged or completely flat. I’m over four inches shorter now. Constant bone pain is draining. My wife has spinal arthritis and disc problems. And she’s MY CARER.

You can get the oil but it’s no good from U.K. has the bit you need will be no where near what you need have you asked your doctor he can give you the one that works or you would have to import it or buy it Illegally that’s the problem

But ask him

You can get cannabis oil on line but you can only legally buy CBD oil, in the UK, which has had the THC removed (which is the part that gives you the high). Some people say without the THC it’s useless but other people swear by it. There are CBD groups on Facebook that would probably be able to give you better advice and the best brands to buy. Be careful though and only buy from reputable companies, as there is a lot of rubbish out there. The best oils are usually expensive.

Thank you, Hayley. Wouldn’t it be great if our GP could just prescribe it?

Oh absolutely. But CBD has not been approved, the way companies manage to sell it is to say it is a dietary supplement. But proper medical marijuana has so many benefits you would think they would. But it’s all political I’m sure.
