What is difference between Obstructive index and COPD Gold Classification

I had a copd test at Bluecrest Health Screening and received the following :

FEV 1 64% of predicted : FEV 6 : 79%

Ratio 89% Cannot understand how they got that ratio but it then states Obstructive index Mild:

COPD Gold Stage 2 Moderate.

Any advice much appreciated.

thanks for all previous help

Hi you would get more response to your post if you put it in the British Lung Foundation which is also on here. x

They won't have done a spirometry, just a hand held Fev1 & FVC6 thing you can buy off amazon.

If you are symptom free, no cough, no shortage of breath and no history of smoking, you won't have COPD. If you do have any of these symptoms, see your GP for a proper diagnosis.

Best wishes.

My understanding is that you tend not to get symptoms until your lung capacity is down to about 53% and my fixed small airways obstruction (COPD by any other name) was diagnosed when it was down to 50% and I complained of incessant winter colds and occasional chest tightness. Medics won't call it COPD if you haven't smoked, but since it's a generic term, then this is a bit disingenuous because the effect on the lungs is very similar. Also, if you catch it early, then the treatment can slow the natural lung deterioration and even, according to some posts I've read, actually improve it. So rossie might want to explore further options to keep lungs as healthy as possible.
