Clifford,You must have faith in your ability to live with Emphysema and convey that faith to our new member,Emphysema is not a terminal disease and it's progression can be reduced to that of any normal age related progression with our lungs,i am sure loads of people will testify to Dsmith as to how this is accomplished..............regards Skis and Scruffy

I too have emphysema, not pleasant but so far survivable. It leads to unable to breath easily but there are treatments at your age that may help but you will need the help of your GP.

There is transplant surgery out there, lung reduction surgery, lung coils and/or valves and last resort stem cell treatment. You will need to research all of these, you could register for a "trial" at one of the UK hospitals doing work/research in this area. Try the Royal Bromptom hospital they are very active in this area.

Wish you well.

On the bright side at least it has been caught early, so you can make any changes that need to be made. Please don’t worry about it, most people don’t die from Copd and it is totally manageable if handled correctly. If you smoke then stop, and try to exercise regularly. It’s all about how you look after yourself. I know I got depressed when I first found out but if you start looking after yourself then you will probably live to a ripe old age. I would have thought at 28 yours will be mild. Good luck and keep your chin up. 😘

Ditto. Also STAY AWAY FROM SICK PPL. especially kids. Their 3 day cold can become a 3 month exacerbation for us. If you have the genetic form of emphysema still exercise keep your head right stay away from sick people eat well learn to live a nice quiet life stress is a killer for any of us so find your happy place
