Hi everyone, I have been suffering from a blocked and stuffy nose for about 18 months but since I've been on oxygen therapy (6 weeks) it's become much more severe......I'm currently using a nasal spray 3 times a day which is sometimes effective......has anyone got any tips?....old age remedies for instance?......I would really appreciate it, hopefully an alternative to the spray........ thinking of asking my GP....thanks all...😊

Hi, the only thing I can suggest is a Saline nasal douche. I use Nielmeds Nasal wash and also their sachets of sterile saline. It works well for me (though I'm not on oxygen). I got mine via Amazon. I'm sure others will have more suggestions. Good luck. P

Hi, I've had sinus issues for about over 20 years! 2 ops a long time ago, then basically Drs gave up on me! I use Sterimar everyday and it assists. As things this year have got much worse on all fronts everything's finally being investigated and I'm going to have a sinus MRI next week. Maybe you should ask for an MRI on your sinuses as I think until they can really get a good look they won't really know.

Try using a mask instead of a nasal canula. Your oxygen supplier can provide these.

Hi Nanagaga

I use a nasal douche every morning :( A warm cup of boiled water with quarter teaspoon of bicarbonate and about half a teaspoon of salt. It really does make a difference ! My left nostril is now relatively clear and I cough a lot less. It shifts the mucus from my nose and throat and helps me have a good cough to start the day. I was sceptical at first but it's working for me. Once you get past the wretching and stuff it's worth it and a good party trick lol. Hope you have a good day πŸ˜€ 🐝 X

Nasal Douche:

To use the solution:

β€’

Pour the cooled solution into the β€˜cup’ of your hand or into a

shallow dish (e.g. a saucer).

β€’

Close one nostril using your other hand.

β€’

Sniff the solution up your nose and let it run out.

Repeat this sniffing action at least 3 times up each nostril or until

your nose feels more comfortable and there is no more debris

coming out. If there is any remaining solution you can gargle

with it and spit it out. This will clean the post nasal space (the

cavity at the back of the nose).

Do not swallow the salty solution otherwise you will feel sick.

Hi Levina

I place the cup under my nostrils and snort it up through my nose, it then comes out through the mouth and breaks up the mucus. I have to do it over the sink and it's definitely not ones finest hour but it has reduced my coughing through the day by about a third which is massive as I was coughing practically all day.

It sounds gross but once you start doing it and it gets results it's worth it :) xx

Hope it works for you x🐝
