I maybe wrong

gustavski profile image

and I am only guessing here but does no one like cats.

I hear my dog this and my dog that.

Is it maybe because they could cause breathing problems.

I do not know why this is, cats and dogs both have fur but some people are allergic to cats but I have never heard of anyone being allergic to dogs.

Morning gus, I am sorry to say one of my daughters is very allergic to dogs, one to cats and the other to small mammals like mice .

That's apart from pollen, sawdust, horses, dust etc.

Lots of cat lovers on this site as you will find out !

Dogs like labradoodles are popular with people with allergies.

Forgive my ignorance but what is a labradoodle. Please don't tell me it a Labrador crossed with a Poodle or are you taking the Michael ?

Yes that's what it is.

gustavski profile image
gustavski in reply to Nottobad

If it is true. I can't see why anyone would want to cross a beautiful animal like a Labrador with any other animal.

If your pure bred dog slips the lead and mates with another breed I can understand that, But why oh why would one want to do it deliberately ? beats me.

I don't understand it either. But people do do it. Same with a pug and a chihuahua. That is called a chug. Some sick people in this word.

Good Lord that is a bit harsh but I do condemn the practice wholeheartedly and I am sure you do too.

The problem I think is that people can't leave something natural alone, They must change things. They are not satisfied with either themselves or their belongings. Jeez just take a look at cosmetic surgery now a multi billion big bucks industry.

Maybe they are trying to outwit the Big Reaper.

Hello Gus.

I actually love cats. And generally I am more of a cat person, well until Chom came along. My doctors were horrified when I told them I was thinking of getting a cat. In fact they said "no furry animals" but I went and adopted Chom anyway. Better than one doctor's recommendation of Chameleon!! I knew that having a dog would make me go out and walk him and do things. In fact it was someone here who told me this. I think it was Malcolm.

Cats are so independent. They wouldn't need nor want walking. Chom keeps me on the go. Without him I think I wouldn't be as active. Cats are close to my heart too really they are. I know I post a lot about My Little Prince, Chom I guess because he is such a major part of my therapy for my lung disease and my life in general.

Do you have any pets Gus?

Hope you are well.

Hi Caspiana you'd look a bit silly taking a Chameleon on a camping trip. 🙄😂😂😂

Hi john.....we took our gerbils on a camping trip, that was before we realised my youngest was allergic to them.

We kept goldfish for a while.....then I had to be tested for an allergy to fish fin rot.......my fins have never been the same since!

There was an artist, well he may have been a writer. He lived in the south of France, well abroad anyway! He had a lobster & took it for walks on a lead. Straight up😁nought so queer as folks; apart from thee & me & even thee is a little odd! 😉 x

Better keep the chameleon on a lead or you may loose it in the shrubbery!

In the apartment block where I live pets are not allowed.

I think I might choose a cat if I had to make a choice. They're independent nature appeals to me.

Dogs seem too clingy unless you have a Rottweiler or Doberman Pincer.

The Stasi would patrol with these animals on the East side of the Berlin Wall and I often thought Jeezus I wouldn't want one of those chasing me.

I think even Rotweillers and Dobermans can be clingy. 😊Rare but some kitties are too. Or they choose who to be clingy with. ❤😍

Hi Guys, I'm the cat lady of the site.😊 I actually have 12 of them! I normally post funny photos of cats. Haven't been on the site much lately. You will probably get quite a few replies, as there are many members with kittys. Do you have any pets? 😊 Rubyxx 😊

I've had cats most of my adult life. My latest tyrant is Tinker, a tabby from the RSPCA rescue centre at Stapeley. His previous elderly owner died, and he must have had her wrapped round his little velvet paw. He's managed to do the same with my husband Alan, who hasn't been owned by a cat before.

I do love dogs too, have owned two dogs in the past and would love to have one, but need to introduce these new family members in stages....

Magpuss profile image

Sounds as if you're adopting the feline method of getting your own way Ergandl - I like it! You can't beat that imperceptible, oh so gentle velvet paw approach when trying to bring someone round to your way of thinking😺😸😻😻

OMG! gustavski you'll have everyone posting pictures of cats now.

We used to get loads and loads of dog pictures posted on here until I posted a picture of me own dog ( goo.gl/si53VT ) When they saw how handsome it was compared to theirs they must have felt embarrassed and didn't put any dog pics on for a while. 😳😂😂😂😂

To tell the truth, if people didn't post pictures of dogs, cats, gardens, CAKES etc, the forum wouldn't be as good as it is. All these things are part of people's live and sharing them with others brightens their day up and makes them feel better. Sometimes that is better than the medication they are on.

If we all just talked about our medical problems the forum would be very depressing. I for one think we have an excellent site for information, support, friendship and humour that is second to none.

Have a good day.

John

I have a tortoiseshell cat called Tara and sometimes she is all that stands between giving up and carrying on. I do feel for people who are allergic to animals. I couldn't be without my little cat.

I adore pussy cats Gus..and I've had a few dogs too...but that was some time ago...

now we're in for it ..all the poody cat lovers willl swamp the site...and my day on the beach photos will be overlooked 😽😽

Yes, this is a dangerous post and as Sailer says, the cat owners will probably go into overdrive. I'm not allergic to cat or dog hair but even if I was then the cats would still be here as I couldn't possibly traumatise them by giving them away. We have three and the entertainment they provide us with, is endless. They are quite loving for cats, the welcome home I get from them is astounding. The older two are getting a bit demanding and needy now but aren't we all ?

People on the site have lots of cats & dogs. I like both but we have a dog. He is a black miniature schnauzer; beautiful boy . They are good for people with breathing issues as they don't shed much. I think the breed originally started in Germany. I have this urge to post his picture now. X

I grew up with dogs. Since the 70s, I have had numerous cats. I do take a antihistamine to prevent problems. Cts give off dander which can affect breathing. I had a very precious cat, Malcolm, but he had to be put down - he had a malignant growth. So Eddie moved in - he is a heavy guy but very lovable. Dogs, I enjoy meeting other people's dogs. Prefer them to be smaller and no yapping - SMILEY XX

If you're doing a head count, I prefer cats over dogs. I don't actually have any pets, as my son is allergic. I often wonder if I will ever get that "little lap dog" when I'm older and kids are gone, but I don't honestly think so... I think you have to have the time and energy for a pet that you would a child'. And I can't honestly say I ever see that happening again..

gustavski profile image
gustavski in reply to Aurorastar_

No I am not doing a head count. I have not been on the site long and I never heard anyone mention cats. I just thought it maybe something to do with cat allergy or whatever it's called.

Seems I have put my foot in it.

Hello Gus, how are you today? I don't have any pets but my kitty sure has me! She has trained me well ;)

It's all good fun with the cats, dogs, chameleons, any many more pets here as they are family too.

Kitty is my 6 year old cat, Lilith. My daughter claims she a toddler in a cat suit by how she carries on like a little child! Now that my children are grown and on their own and my wife passed years ago, Lilith has been a great companion to me. I've learned some cat speak I think (?) as she has smacked me many times when I meow the wrong way at her.

The picture above isn't her but this is: healthunlocked.com/blf/post...

Sorry I got my wires crossed.

But your black cat is surely bad luck.

Don't let it cross your path. Long ago they would have burnt you at the stake and called you a witch..... just kidding she is a lovely cat.

no wires crossed, all is good Gus!

I once had her outside and she kept darting in front of me. Our maintenance man was on a ladder making fun of it so I picked her up and walked under his ladder. He didn't like that.

Shortly after that, we (Lilith and I) were back in my second floor apartment looking out the bedroom window. The maintenance man was very unsettled climbing his ladder and seeing us at the top! He was working around my window at the time.

We do have fun together :)

I'm a crazy cat lady, Gustavski. At present I have only the one "rescued" (stolen) black cat; my other black lady was run over six months ago. I'd have a house full of cats but my husband is a dog man, and the Labrador isn't keen on cats either. No allergy problems here for either!!
