Thank you to all who replied to my post . Sorry one more question about renewing a blue badge, can anyone tell me do they tell you on the day of the assessment if have been successful or do you have to wait for notification ( if so how long before you hear ) . Many thanks, stay well.

They are not supposed to tell you on the day and like everything else, how long it takes to tell you depends on where you live. In my case, my assessor was so cross that I had been assessed after having a BB for 16 years she told me that I had passed and rang my council to tell them to get the badge to me asap because despite my filling in forms weeks before they had not sent me for an assessment until it was no longer valid. It arrived the next day.

Thanks very much.

Do remember that they are filming you from the time that you arrive in the carpark of the centre.

Same for me they said my husband should not have been asked to go and that he would receive the badge within a couple of days which he did

It has never occurred to me to apply for a blue badge. But occasionally, when really caught for breath, I park on the always-empty handicapped spots outside the supermarket. This is because I believe my need is 100% genuine and would argue that to the death if anyone challenged me. Bit it would be way more sensible to do things the right way and apply for a BB.

My blue badge runs out in July 2016. Do they send you a reminder to renew the badge?

In General yes, but sometimes I find they don't come till the last minute so you need to reply quickly so it does not run out. Believe you can renew on line nowadays.

Thanks.  I will check online now as I find my blue badge a lifeline and would be devastated if I lost it

I think it says in the book that it is your responsibility to make sure your blue badge is in date, so I don't think they do ( but your never know).  I wouldn't wait until it expires to renew it. The process used to take up to 6 weeks where I live, but then things may have moved on since then. You can reapply online.  Hope this info helps.

Hi

I just renewed mine by completing form.  If your situation hasn't changed just give them the same information as before.

Hope this helps?

I renewed mine part online and part manually.  I am no good at attaching things to e mails and you had to send the photo electronically so I completed the form manually then sent the attachments by post.  I have heard that you can renew by telephone in some areas.

Hello Mikefever,,where I live it is go to the council offices for the form pack, then fill it in,,then go back to the council offices and let them take a photo of you,,needless to say my photo is terrible and I can only be just about seen,,,then they charge you £10 for the three years,,,,just because the have put a hologram onto it,,,,,then they send it off and I just have to wait till it comes back,,with the clock and into the car it goes,,,,

I did not have an assessment for mine,,unless you call getting to the p[lace where they do the photos, and the how well you cope with paying the fee,,,ttfn from Karen.
